Should we expect his and shakes PnR opportunities to go up?

Curry is coming to the Sixers at pretty much the same age/contract that Redick got to the Clips to play with Doc.

Their production ages 23-29 is eerily similar - if Seth can fill the JJ role in Doc's offense he'll be just fine.

Check it out yourself - does this link work?

I’d love to pair him with Milton when Ben is off the floor. You got two guys who can run PnR .90-1.00ppp and both are atleast 40% shooter from 3.

One thing I'd say about the Curry-Redick comparison is that Embiid has pointed out how Redick and him had a natural feel and synergy for each other in Brett's DHO offense. After seeing some OK results from him and Furkan, Shake, Markelle (lol, ), I'm hoping they can form a rapport of their own.

Let's not forget the some of the reasons why Reddick was not resigned.

1) He was targeted on defense in the playoffs.
2) In the playoffs the DHO action was defended pretty well by the opposition.

I don't think Seth Curry changes either of those two problems. We are so excited for Seth Curry compared to last year's crap that we forgot about what happened when Reddick was here. I think a lot of us were relieved that we got Richardson to replace Reddick because in theory Richardson would be able to hold up on the defensive side or at least be a better balance of offense/defense than Reddick was. I think we are setting up ourselves for disappointment if we believe Seth Curry is going to be much different than Reddick.

You're probably right, would assume they look at him like a bench player rather than a starter like Redick was though.

A lot of Curry's value is that he's locked into a cheap deal, again more akin to a bench player.

Hopefully two of Shake, Maxey and Thybulle develop into starting caliber players. Or one of them does and you trade for another.

Every players has their downsides, fans tend to ignore (or do not know) the ones of new signings. In reality, Redick was a great addition to our team. Richardson is also a good player, however his skillset did not fit as well as Redick did with Simmons and Embiid.

Regarding the defense, if you have one player you can scheme your defense in such ways that it minimizes the impact imo. Celtics have done it for years with IT and Kemba, Miami can do it with Robinson, Herro, etc. It does require that the player has the willingness and court vision to avoid bad matchups.
I do think that Curry has those capabilities based on limited footage from my side and general perception from fans/media I trust.

Couldn't agree more.

I'm pretty confused by Morey/this boards optimism regarding Curry.

He's a 6'2" 180 pound shooting specialist that can't create or score off the dribble. And he's a huge defensive liability.

In 2018 play-offs, yes.
In 2019 play-offs, Kawhi attacked Ben’s defense.

Like I said in the other thread..

When Murray dropped 50 against the Jazz, was it because of Mitchell’s defense?

PG defense is not that valued because most PGs would just run the PnR, and your PG wont switch to a big. That PG is going to get erased by the pick. You need team defense to counter that like how Warriors run their defense with pre-switch, like Heat run their defense with the Zone and like Celtics run their defense with team defense of their wings.

But I do agree on the DHO being not as effective during the play-offs. And Morey has mentioned about that concern but he’s going for a “wait and see” approach by “saving his bullets”.

Personally, I think Milton, Seth and Tobi can run PnR.
Tobi and Biid actually were great on ISO against the Celtics series this year, 1.3ppp and 1.1ppp respectively.

I also can see running Ben with 2 man games with him and a shooter setting the screen and popping, like how Raps and Bucks run it with Siakam or Giannis.

Boban snatching a rebound without jumping from a guy attempting a follow up dunk is still a treat to watch.

He’s my favorite player on the team right now. I think he’s going to get 15-18ppg on our team this season.

Yeah, he may be a bad defender, but he will feast here( atleast in the regular season). I agree that he will probably average close to 18 ppg. Atleast our team will be more fun to watch. Last year our basketball was horrible to watch.

I agree with the low side of your estimate. He'll probably be Redick without all the bull foul calls on 3 pointers.

18-20 is my legitimate guess. He just hasn’t gotten that opportunity yet in his career and will thrive with both Ben and jo

Hmm.. ben has been here for 3 years and he still haven’t reached those numbers so i’d be more cautious on that range
