Hill just fit in better, but even he didn't outplay his contract. Fair value maybe... if you put a gun to my head.

Brook is our last one and he fits a specific need.

I much prefer our contract distribution now.

Enter Pat Connaughton 3/16 with player option - likely worse than a couple of those when they were signed

Half the amount for a comparable contribution. I'm not defending it. Far from it. Just trying to see the big picture.

No question the front office screw up on the original two year deal is inexcusable.

That said, some thoughts on Pat's deal:

-Delly got $39mm, Snell got $44mm, Plumlee got $52mm, Henson got $44mm. The $16mm owed Pat really is trivial compared to those guys.

-Pat is a damn useful player. We've had two seasons for him to come in and eat minutes and be productive. Those other guys, not so much. And with Covid issues, we'll need a dependable minute eater in the regular season. There may be quarantine issues where the team is short handed.

-He plays hard. He's sort of a miniature David Lee. Unlike other guys who got paid, think he'll always be in shape.

-For years the Bulls kept around Jack Haley for years, for well, reasons. If Pat is Giannis big workout buddy, I could think of worse ways we could spend the money.

That's interesting. I'm curious to see what their cap looks like now, but the scuttlebutt out of Miami was they wanted Bam to wait a year because of Giannis next summer.

I think MIA screwed themselves by waiting on Giannis. Crowder and Jones were decent players who I bet would've stayed if offered contracts, but MIA was prob waiting on Giannis or some sort of info. Once Fox, Mitchell, Tatum got their extensions they couldn't wait anymore and had to extend BAM, basically giving up on Giannis, but by waiting they couldn't offer Jae or Jones new contracts. Probably not a big deal in the scheme of it all, but Jae was crucial for them IMO.

Alternative take: “You extend client 1 early, we’ll find a way to get client 2 here next year.”

Also he is still relatively young and may have a bit more growth in his game considering he was a two sport athlete until a few years ago. Hard worker, good guy and Giannis dead lift partner.

Ron Swanson wrote:Would be great if either Nwora or Merrill could end up being a steal, but you should never bank on 2nd round rookies to be actual NBA contributors for any team, much less one with championship aspirations. You're just setting yourself up for disappointment.

My thoughts exactly, we're covered with reasonable vets for a rotation but Merrill deserving minutes over Forbes or Pat or Nwora taking minutes from Pat or Craig would be super welcomed. Which one do you have higher hopes making that happen this year?

Pat is a work horse, & he can be a difference maker. I don't think it's a bad deal. Bucks need high work ethic guys to pair with Giannis. Helps that they're friends.

* Off chance he improves & this deal becomes a steal. More control as a defender, hitting more shots & that would be the case. He doesn't even necessarily have to be a trade chip.

there may be very specific reasons why we redid that deal that have nothing to do with screwing anything up and they may not be apparent for awhile. you call his deal and unexcusable screwup but to me the idea they "screwed it up" is uncomprehensible. no way. i dont buy it

rest of your post is on point. id just add bigger slots in general for the bottom 10 on the roster is mandatory. it makes trades possible and thats the only way were going to improve other than mle and min guys

I feel like I’d have rather had Bogdan than Hield, but I haven’t paid much attention to him. He’s obviously a great 3 point shooter, does he do anything else?

The incredible man crushes of DDV on this board DDV is not better than buddy omg if the bucks had a half way decent SG DDV wouldnt even be starting.
Buddy is a much better shooter than DDV and would be perfect as our shooting guard so yes absolutely ill give them brook n DDV though would rather keep brook and find a way to get heidl
