I'm going with don't match unless there is a deal for Buddy already lined up.

Don’t match unless there is something in place to move Buddy in a positive manner.
It’s just too much money locked up for a guy that would be getting 10-12 per in a normal FA year. He is overrated and getting overpaid by virtue of bad timing.

I wish he wasn’t so mediocre as a starter
I watched him start and make no imprint for an entire spring
Even without factoring Buddy, I don’t have him making 18 mil on a good contract, and we should be rebuilding with youth

I voted don't match.
Having both Bogdan and Buddy on roster will depress each other's values.
Bogdan took Buddy's starting 2 position last season. I don't see Buddy reclaiming the 2 spot if Bogdan is retained. Buddy is going to sulk and going to make a mess about it. After Bogdan is gone, Buddy reclaims the 2 guard position by default until Haliburton proves and wins the starting role.

Match then trade Buddy and Bogi later on. Get whatever value we can get for them. Whenever we get talent here we shouldn't let them walk for no value. Even pennies on the dollar is worth more than nothing for Bogi.

Yup. Keep hearing about Bogis no trade clause killing this for us. Well if Bogi really wants out, he wouldnt decline a deal right?
I imagine it wouldn't be that hard to move him. And even if its for a late 1st, or a prospect like DDV its totally worth it. Plenty of minutes for Buddy, Bogdan, Haliburton, Fox. I dont give a damn if Bogdan/Buddy are upset being on the bench. But again I think we have plenty of minutes to go around.
Fox (34)
Barnes (30)
Bogdan (30)
Buddy (30)
Bagley (30)
Holmes (28)
Bjelica (24)
Haliburton (24)
thats 230 minutes out of the possible 240. Then give that extra 10 minutes to Joseph, Jefferies, Woodard, Ramsey whatever works.

How movable are Buddy/Barnes now?
I don’t think Bogi is an asset at that contract. It’s IMO an overpay by one particular team with money to spend trying to get another team to not match a RfA

Re: Bogi Poll - runs today only!
Hello, hello! It's been a long time Kings fans. I've been reading everyone's posts, which I always enjoy.
I would like to see them match. I don't want to see a talented player walk for nothing. Bogi won't stunt Halliburton's growth. But Buddy will!
Bogi has the ability to slide to the other wing spot and play next to Fox and Halliburton. Buddy does not.
If Buddy can't be traded - start him and Bogi together for first half of season. Give him 30 minutes per game. Then trade whichever player isn't working. They both would be locked in and will play to their contracts.
Go Kings.

Re: Bogi Poll - runs today only!
It was just too much.
As Amick noted the other day, the plan is to build a young team around Fox, as IMO it should’ve been
BOgi only makes the team better on paper and the team should be “tanking”
Not only tanking, but getting all their youth as much minutes as possible
As an asset I would’ve kept BOgi maybe at 13, or a legit positive value trade piece. I saw nothing about his starting stint this spring that warranted that contract from Atlanta

Which seemed to be the thing holding up matching. Would you have preferred to have seen Buddy traded off for no value if it meant matching Bogi?codydaze wrote:I'm going with don't match unless there is a deal for Buddy already lined up.

Same money range
Same position
To answer your question Yes because Bogi makes the team better.
Now the Kings are stuck with the lesser player paying the same amount of money. Sure Buddy has the elite skill but I have doubts he stops pouting. An expiring is a way out.

Yes, I would get rid of Buddy for just about anything except a horrific long term contract coming back.

I’m depressed about these major screw ups this franchise makes every offseason..really ? you’re just let him walk? Bogi is so much better for this team than selfish Buddy Held

McNair didn't have much of a choice. He inherited a flawed roster with salary issues. He tried to pursue a S&T, but it fell through. As soon as someone leaked the deal before the window opened, any other S&T was going to be a long shot. I don't think that's on McNair and I think not matching was the smart long-term decision. It sucks, but now we just have to move on and focus on trying to add young talent, assets through other means.
