The Marko Simonovic season thread

Post#1 » by Grodoboldo » Wed Nov 25, 2020 2:37 pm

Didn't find any thread about him, so I decided to create one.

Read on Twitter

@chicagobullsbot: Chicago Bulls Marko Simonovic 2020 Highlights

Simonovic season started in October and he's currently averaging 16.1 PPG, 9.9 RPG, 50% FG, 40.5% 3PT over 8 games in the Adriatic League (ABA).

Dario Saric, Jusuf Nurkic and Nikola Jokic played in the ABA.

Yeah, it's a highlight video, but damn, that looked pretty good!
Constantly underwhelmed by the Bulls.

I'm not saying he's gonna be good in the NBA, but I feel like those stats are more valid than Deni's.

I'd be thrilled if he came in as a low-cost viable backup stretch PF in a year or two.

Nice. Skilled and quite coordinated. Needs a lot of work on strength but a good player to stash at Mega for 1-2 years and eventually replace big Luke. The Adriatic league is legit. Love the uniforms too!

I’ve heard he’s 6’11-7 foot but poor wingspan. Can anyone corroborate?

In any case...always love an excuse to follow international hoops.

Živeli Marko!

I don't see anything special other than smooth stroke from 3. He's just a floor spacer right now.

Heard the same on the latest Bulls Gold Podcast, but I can't confirm it.

FYI

He has a severe dip in his shot set up. I am not sure I can recall seeing this.

He shows a bit more in this video and the video shows some of the minus plays too.

It looked less pronounced to me in the more recent footage. Professional training in Europe is generally superb...I would guess they are working on a quicker release. Everything from above the shoulders is excellent.

yeah, I forget how he needs to fix that 3pt shoot form. Taking the ball down to his thighs and taking a jumper is a little man's shot. He will get zero of those shots off in the NBA.

If he can get stronger in the post or stronger for interior offense (he looks worse than even Lauri) and have a higher release on his shot, he can be a serviceable player for sure. Right now, I can see him being limited to a catch n shoot guy that can only get other points through transition. But he looks decent on the defensive side of the ball and he'll get you rebounds, so those things are worth playing time too.

If there is one thing AK is elite at, it's plucking these dudes from Europe. I'm excited to see his draft picks over the years to come.

Y’all should read some scouting reports on Jokic before he was drafted. They aren’t similar prospects, but I see a strong chance of a similar path of growth.

AK knows what he is doing, period. Enough with the GarPax PTSD!

I’m lauding AK for this pick, and that of Williams at 4. I’m expecting good things at the very least.

He's a skinny 220, he's definitely not an NBA center.

Looks like a Catch n shoot stretch 5, which is fine that's about all you can realistically expect from a 2nd rounder. Always hope by some miracle some other skills develop though.

He was a 2nd round pick in a weak draft, hard to expect much from him. I would have liked someone like Jay Scrubb with a high upside but we'll see.

We didn't have the roster spot for someone...a draft and stash was the only real alternative to trading the pick (likely for $).
