I’m not mad at you, just being realistic and trying to solve the problem while you throw a tantrum.

You want to know the hilariously ironic part of your statement?
The fact that the actual logical move would've been to either have signed Hayward to a contract the team actually could afford, or not doing it at all.
Instead they're going to pay huge money to a guy who probably won't produce at that level and have to **** themselves over by eating Batum's contract or giving up assets to make paying Hayward huge money possible.

Yeah, dude. I hate the move to sign Hayward, but we signed him. You calling the front office illogical doesn't mean you aren't also being illogical on where to go from here.
I get being mad at the signing. I'm pissed. We needed to rebuild another year and give Ball a ton of minutes to see if he's a guy to build around. We're not going to know much by giving him 20 mpg and fighting for the 9 seed.
It's a bad move but it can be made slightly better. I'd rather get something than nothing. I'd rather not have dead cap. Not wanting BOS to get a TPE doesn't make any sense to me.

bro if you think this is a tantrum then you clearly don't know what parenthood is like LMAO
Pointing out a screw up isn't a tantrum. It's called being realistic. They **** up and now they're going to have to double down on stupid to make it work
I have no obligation whatsoever to sit here with purple and teal colored glasses and say #everythingisgoingtobefine
All I was saying in regards to a trade is I don't like the idea of hooking up Boston to make it happen. If that's the only option I'd rather just stretch Batum. You don't need to agree. I don't care

Props for trying to stay on track
And let's circle back to the band aid possibilities.
The only way I see any positive outcome to dealing with Boston is if we get actual assets from them to make it happen. They aren't doing us a favor. They're getting bailed out. They need to cough up a legitimate incentive to make it happen.
Not some BS future late second round pick. That has no value to me whatsoever
That's where we differ.
My solution is working out some form of trade to cut money down somewhere else. There is no implicit need to deal with Boston.

Some posters on the Celtics forum suggested using Langford as incentive for the TPE. If we can land him and also find a way to not stretch Batum I'd be ecstatic. It's Thanksgiving anyways, so go have a drink or two and relax. We can't control anything this shortsighted team does.

Mitch has put together some crazy ones over the years but this has MJ's fingerprints all over it. Think it was only two weeks ago Mitch was saying we weren't throwing money at anyone and now this. Grasping at straws here but maybe it goes back to the draft, MJ hated LaMelo but Mitch was in love after eyeballing him in the NBL soooo MJ says "fine, BUT...."

I don't like next year's free agent situation with multiple teams having cap and being more desirable and coming off runs of success and winning. We would've had to overpay regardless. And for all we know Hayward was the target all along for this next class but he opted out unexpectedly and we moved early. I want Oladipo.
It has been written...

It's kinda weird, there hasn't been any news in like 5 days (and there is a possibility that the deal becomes more palatable with a follow up move) and yet feels like the reactions are getting stronger.
Might be time to break this out:

It feels like sort of a cop out, but at the same time I find this be somewhat compelling. There is a whole **** ton of cap space next summer, this was a pretty unique opportunity for us.

It's a start. Ainge HAS to throw something our way after we give up an asset to that third team.

Langford is interesting and we actually need another wing. We probably need another center even more and Robert Williams III is young, athletic, and serviceable, but his ceiling might not be as high. I actually havent seen Langford play hardly at all.

I would rather just have the Celtics give Langford to OKC if that is the deal.

Re: Hayward to Charlotte 4yr/120 million
We can’t be serious about the Horford thing. If this was 2014 then we’d be looking legit but let’s please not solve our cap issues by making it worse the next three seasons. There are better ways to do this. We are talking Batum for one season to a team that wasn’t doing anything with their space this season at this point anyway. I imagine the hold up is Boston trying to get more out of this than whatever third team is involved.

It's more likely Ainge and Mitch both get to give up something.

I just hope that if they are dead set on moving Batum that they consider trading Rozier by the deadline. I really want to keep the rest of cap situation besides Hayward as flexible as possible. I also don't want to see Ball buried on the bench all season. I really want to flip Rozier for a halfway decent wing/center on an expiring deal.

Re: Hayward to Charlotte 4yr/120 million
Horford has one 10 worst contracts in the league right now, it has negative trade value. Honestly I think Batum deal is better at this point just because it can be treated as an expiring.
I have confidence right now that we will get something done. Finding out OKC has a 27.5 million trade exception really really helped the odds.
