I have confidence right now that we will get something done. Finding out OKC has a 27.5 million trade exception really really helped the odds.

Oh, taking on Horfords contract should be completely off the table unless someone wants to send us a bunch of picks/prospects.

In fact who has the 10 worst contracts under 27.5 million?

I ask because that is what OKC should be looking at using the exception for... is there another deal that makes sense for them to use that one for an asset?

Batum-* obviously they get an asset and he is an expiring
Hield- Sacramento probably wants an asset for him, especially after Bog left
Barnes- might be a fit, but do they want his salary on the books for three years?
Aaron Gordon - seems like OKC would have to give value

I was watching some Horford highlights from this past season to brief up on him in case we trade for him and mannnn that guy looks so old and slow. I've never been so bored in my life watching someone's highlights. I wouldn't even want this guy on the vet minimum

Really pushing the envelope here, but what if the hold-up's down to Mitch trying to get back one of OKC's first-rounders? It's only one pick in a gazillion.

I dont see what OkC would be giving up a first for would be... without them the trade isn't even possible.

I think the only true wing (can guard 2-3) is Hayward and maybe Cody Martin.

Caleb Martin was looking really good before the Covid shutdown. Shot 54%(!) from 3 for the season, which is of course unsustainable but his last 9 games (really the ones where he got decent minutes) here are his stats from long range:

3/4
1/3
0/0
1/2
2/4
1/1
2/3
5/6
3/6

Plus solid defense and lots of effort. He had a positive +/- in 5 of those 9 games and double-digit points in 4 of 9. Personally I would love to see both the Martins get a lot more run, I think Mitch found a couple gem role players. I would bet Caleb is the odd man out this year though.

The Pacers really wanted Hayward, Ainge screwed himself. He should be on the hot seat honestly.

I'd rather waive Batum than trade a first for Hayward in a S&T

Ainge seems like a snake, I'm sure he wants to turn us upside down and shake every piece of change we have out. Thankfully we have Kupchak and not Cho to negotiate.

Agreed.

In happy news. Gordon Hayward put out a rap song in college.

Ainge is trash. He literally got gifted three of the most lopsided trades in sports history and won’t humble himself. His ego is out of control. Crazy how the team he depleted will likely win a championship before him.

It’s crazy how what we need to dump in a trade is exactly what we overpaid him by. :banghead:

Okay, so maybe it's too much of an Ainge move.

To be Fair Boston had way more leverage in this deal because Indy could not of signed Hayward. We have already signed Hayward, so Boston is kind of at our mercy instead of the other way around.

Ainge gets called a moron for doing nothing. Mitch for swallowing dead cap. Why does it feel like the other way around.

Tae/Terry/Monk/Riller can only really guard PGs (Monk can guard some SGs). I think Ball will really struggle against a lot of bigger wings and is mostly going to need to be matched up with SGs. Hayward, Miles, and the twins are the guys I see as true wings who can matchup against any size SG/SF, but Miles is going to need to soak up a lot of the PF minutes and its hard to say how good the twins really are. I don't think another wing is a huge need, but I think we could use another option and getting one that had some decent upside could be cool.
