It’s gonna happen right? Kings aren’t going to match Bogdan tomorrow, they need a center with losing Len and Giles. Only center on the roster is Holmes.
The question is how much? Probably a little more than Tristan Thompson got from the Celtics, 2 years 18 million.

Re: Hassan Whiteside
I'm pretty sure the Kings can get both Bogi and Whiteside if they wanted to.

Does the team even need Bogdan at that price?
Fox
Buddy
Barnes
Bagley
Whiteside FA
Joseph
Haliburton
Belly
Jabari
Holmes
That’s two full solid lineups

Re: Hassan Whiteside
After not retaining Bogdan, please no Whiteside. Even if we sign him cheap, he will disrupt the tank. He is an upgrade to Holmes. The Kings need to bottom out, not to improve the W column.
At this point, the Kings need to fill out their roster with young FAs/G-leaguers that look promising who fits with the Fox timeline. And trade their bloated vet contracts away.
How hard is that?

Re: Hassan Whiteside
I want to fill the roster with vets who can help the young guys develop. 1 year deals of course. If that's Whiteside so be it. Honestly I haven't kept track of who is still available. I'll be driving in tonight.

They're not going to be worse than the worst East teams and it's not like any other West team except maybe OKC is going to be tanking to start the season. Even if you're 100 percent ruling out any chance of the Kings making the playoffs and thinking about it only in terms of accumulating assets, you can get more out signing Whiteside for cheap and flipping him at the deadline to a contending team that thinks they're one piece away than you're gonna get out of 95+ percent of G league signings.

One year vet minimum deal is fine.

Yeah that's not bad at all. Still muddles our chances of tanking a bit, but the dude is not a net positive player so then again maybe it doesn't. Also adds some size to our center rotation. Here's to hoping his attitude doesn't rub off on anyone.

Whiteside hurts the tank a bit but if somehow he has a productive season with the Kings, he can be moved for a small asset at the deadline I guess.

The effect he can have on the locker room is my biggest concern. Not the type of guy I'd want around my young players.

Not at all, but hopefully Barnes and others can counter that and at the very least it's only for a year. Hopefully he's humbled a little bit having to accept a vet minimum deal and may end up being the backup C, but still I agree with your point.

He’s an analytics get. His impact numbers are greater than you’d expect. Still don’t understand the age/tank direction instead of taking a flier on some youth

They still have like 4 roster spots open and already have 4-5 guys 22 and younger who figure to play this year.
