I wonder what team would take on bad salary for assets...

Well, Barnes

Is paying Batum 9 million a year in stretch better than an actual player for 3 years?

Barnes

$22,215,909 $20,284,091 $18,352,273

Subtract the 9 million stretch hit from each of those seasons?

That doesn’t clear enough for Charlotte to sign Hayward though. Would still have to stretch waive guys or dump someone else.

I haven't focused on the appropriate compensation yet. Just moving salary around for now.

this guy still cashing an NBA paycheck is really quite something. He's been in the league since 2014 and has 1200 minutes. And if you look at his basketball reference page you will see some small sample negative statistical marks you might have found impossible to achieve.

Hey he had a decent run in Memphis two years ago that gave me hope he might be figuring it out..... But then it all fell back apart once again. Maybe he'll do it again two years + two years after that

Sometimes the best trades are the ones you don't make. This may be true for both the Pelicans and Hawks. I would not like sending Okongwu and Huerter to the Pelicans for a one year rental. I wonder how Pelicans fans would have thought about ending up with those two.

Before the Bucks struck a deal for Holiday, the Hawks discussed a package that included the No. 6 pick, Kevin Huerter, and Dewayne Dedmon, says Fischer.

Not too sure why you bring Whiteside in to a rebuilding team, especially when Marvin is more C than PF and Holmes has shown great motor, character and energy.

On the minimum he should at least be a decent trade chip at the deadline. Only silver lining for me.

NYK seem like a logic target? They still have space right?

The notion he wanted to come here for the minimum pleases me. We don't have many people willing to do that.

We have more space than the minimum, pretty sure we still have our full MLE available.

Do you not have capspace? I thought the whole deal with the Kings looking to operate over the cap was because of the Bogdanovic hold. With that gone and no salary received in return, you should have room.

Or am I completely wrong, not for the first time?

Yeah, I think we have something like 7 million in cap space and the full MLE and BAE. At this point our rotation is pretty much set so the space should allow us to eat some money at the deadline if we move off of a contract like Joseph/Hield/Barnes.

The market for journeymen bigs isn't strong, so he probably had to settle for whatever.

You can't have capspace and the full MLE. Either you operate under the cap and have space plus the "room" MLE, or you operate over the cap and have no space but get the "full" MLE. Not sure if that's what you meant.
