Indy’s max offer was allegedly Turner, Lamb, and a 1st*, or Turner/McDermott, but Ainge thought he could finagle a second starter out of it and was surprised by Charlotte jumping in.

* JMichael reported specifically Turner, rotation player and a 1st, and I’m putting this together from the other Indy reporting as well that the standing offer was Myles/Doug. Also, reports that Simon was willing to pay the tax for Hayward.

Every year Ainge does something absolutely obnoxious. Honestly he should have taken this, it's way too much.

Rumors are funny— Boston leaks something and its ‘there Ainge goes with his self serving leaks again’. Meanwhile, Indy leaks something completely self serving and its ‘Hah! Ainge is an idiot!’

It's every offseason, it's old.

Every team leaks self-serving stuff. What gets Ainge is his sheer volume of it.

And I don't care who is leaking this if Ainge didn't take Turner and a first for free he is in fact an idiot.

Ainge has really dropped the ball here.

Pretty sure his treasure chest of picks ran dry this offseason too. Think about the team the Celtics had 3 years ago and the boatload of picks they had. Ainge came up super small from that position, if he wasn't so highly regarded he would have lost his job by now.

Are we just going to ignore that Ainge has Jaylen Brown, Tatum, & Marcus Smart? I'm kind of confused that a Heat fan has to do a reality check, but the Celtics also played in the ECF, and I thought they were a damn good team.

They are and they haven’t become irrelevant or anything, but they so far have missed some real opportunities to get better.

Even without the pick i would have taken turner and filler for hayward... he would fill a need and fits the timeline of tatum and brown.

I'm a little surprised no one has signed Hollis-Jefferson and Ferrell.

Is a 30m TPE worth more to the Celtics than just a 27m expiring Batum who they can trade before deadline or re-sign and trade next offseason? If so, why?

Yes TPE will last through the offseason unlike Batum and no salary back in a trade a lot better than Batum’s corpse at 27m. Only upside on Batum is the ability to later aggregate.

Yes, because they can take anyone into the TPE, rather than trying to find someone who wants Batum

Understand, it's more attractive for another team as they take no salary back but by midseason Batum will be at about 18m.

Batum allows you to aggregate but you can also re-sign him next season over the cap. Far less restrictive.

I think the 30m TPE is slightly more valuable but 27m batum and another piece is pretty attractive.

Rightfully so. They waived him and he went on to play for another team for a full season before retiring. Worth a shot I guess but was such a silly request

Through the first 60 games he was healthy and on the active roster, he was just didn't get on the floor very often.

Basically. Just because they are a good, or arguably great, team doesn't excuse the fact that Ainge has dropped the ball on trades that would have made them better, potentially dynasty level.

Does MKG have anything left? I feel like a min to the Wolves could help both parties if he can play some small 4.

Really can't see Minnesota going w/ 2 bigs for more than spot minutes ever, but I do think they're lacking in big, strong, defense-oriented wing department.

For all I know he's got a compound fracture of the everything right now though.
