If they threw in a top 3 protected 1st rounder I'd be interested actually. We wont be good anytime soon anyways. I'd rather have Wall absorbing the cap being injured then Weaver going after players like Grant/Plumdog with our money.

They won’t do that for the same reason we are dead set against adding draft assets to unload Blake.

Eh they do have Beal something we dont have. If we had a guy of his caliber on the team I'm sure they'd be looking to build around them instead trying to rebuild. If I were the Wizards Id rather have Blake much better player when healthy probably worth his contract if he wasn't. Wall is a terrible contract even with perfect health.

It may not be a move me or you would make but teams do moves we wouldnt make all the time. We traded for Blake to chase the 8 seed for example. That was never going to get us anywhere and national media rightfully bashed us for the move but yet we did it.

If Blake looks healthy they may think with Blake they can make the playoffs meaning the 1st rounder they give us isnt all that high. Also they want to get out of that extra year of Wall so they free up space since they already have one star in Beal. That gives us a extra first rounder in a good draft.

Beal has a contract so they don't have to bow to him.

What they've failed to do the last 2 years is a build a talent base that once Wall returned the playoffs were a certainty!

People can lament what we've done or how we've done it but the goal is obvious:

We're 2 more drafts away from having any idea of what we've got...and when Blake expires we'll see where we're at

Wall doesn't have leadership. I don't want a player like that on the team. Not at his cost.

Honestly I thought John Wall's career was a disappointment before the injury bug got him.

He was supposed to be the next great point guard. The hype around him when he was drafted was REAL. I'm not sure he was ever even top 5 at the position. 2017 was the closest I suppose.

And yeah, intangibles aren't great either.

His speed is what made him special so it will be interesting to see how effective he can be after that type of injury. I think his style of play is worst case for a Achilles injury cause he doesn't even have a reliable jumper to fall back on.
