Wow, I saw the picture this morning and didn't catch the antlers!
It's cool that Giannis is keeping us in suspense. Seeing up a big Thanksgiving announcement, so we can all give thanks!

ugh. Trade Giannis for Butler then and go sleep well at night. You will dream softly knowing you can build another finals team off him. That's the point. If your team is willing to aggressively put a team together the right way it doesn't need the best player of the league to get there. They don't have to pay a player 220 million and bend to his every whim. Imagine finding one for 140 and how much having an extra 80 million for others makes it easier.
Butler reached a level of respect he's fought for all this time only after passing 30 years old. We can sit here with you claiming he's worth his max now. But around three years back everyone on the planet was arguing with me when they would say Wiggins deserved a max and to be built around and Butler should take a third wheel 4 year deal "overpay" and just be happy about it. It only takes a couple years for everyone to see the light. Now I'm on the other end describing Butler as a fringe allstar in comparison to some others and you want to take a simple max contract stance I've already fought for years to see him get. priceless, but I love to see it.
Butler never won a championship, and will likely never get to the Finals again. He only got their once, in a year where the best teams didn't get home court advantage.

Anyway I read somewhere that the "rival" that filed the official complaint to the NBA is (of course?) Pat Riley and the Miami Heat.
Pat Riley is playing chess all these years and the bucks the last 2 years are making Giannis doubt and leave his home.
Riley is playing chess? He turned down 4 first round picks so he could pick the immortal Justice Winslow. He played checkers against himself and lost. He's not getting Giannis.
I am not sure about that. But you probably don't remember what Miami was few years ago... I remember them overpaying their G-League and Undrafted guys, like Richardson, McGruder, Hassan, James Johnson ... and I said ... this team is finished , they can't recover from these contracts ... somehow though he managed to get Jimmy Butler without cap space, drafted Adebayo, drafting Herro, undrafted Robinson, ... Jimmy Butler is right on his interview when he says that the Heat Org is super serious , organized and wants to Win every year. He got the bodies he wanted to confront Giannis on Iguodala and Crowder and we just did nothing for 2 years, nothing to improve ...
I mean I remember few years ago when we were discussing here with Buddy Chuck about undrafted players that we should check out, and we were talking about McGruder, Briante Webber etc ... and as I remember Miami was one of the few NBA teams to pay players to participate in their summer camp... The Heat are always trying to improve via their system and scouting ... while we just do nothing like that. I wish we could copied what Miami and the Rockets were doing last 4-5 years, as to how active they were/are on finding players and testing them
Don't get me wrong , this is not about McGruder and Webber, my point is that Miami's System - Scouting just generates value out of "nothing"

With another wing in the fold and less big man depth, maybe we'll get more Giannis at center lineups, which I've been wanting for some time now.

Such as? If you don’t have a top player then you may as well forfeit, I think the playoffs should be halved so o my competitive teams make it. I have no interest in mediocrity, if Giannis left then Lasry/Edens should be chased out of town and I’d want the whole org traded for a NHL team because they’re never going to us win in the NBA.
Such as the heat will make a run at it again this year. Did you know they were starting an undrafted 2nd year player in the playoffs, and undrafted rookie starting at pg much of the year, and a #13 rookie in playoff games this year? The rest of the team was loaded with position flexible Forward role players with winning experience led by a competitive leader. Jimmy Butler was always fringe, he didn't just become something different at age 31. It was a good team they put together and they had a great run at it. Were they mediocre? Should they not have bothered?
Someone will always lose in the finals. Doesn't make their time a waste of time. Doesn't mean they should forfeit before they begin. 29 teams lose every season. It's the journey, start to enjoy that a little.
That Heat team doesn't make the finals in a normal year straight up and we saw how they got demolished by the Lakers, the Lakers may have won under normal circumstances we'll never know but the whole postseason gets an asterisk like it or not with the anomaly of Miami's postseason run being exhibit 1 of that. Does a young **** road team go up 2-0 on the road the first 3 rounds of the playoffs? Pretending like that doesn't matter just doesn't work, playoffs without HCA or any fans aren't the same. I would bet all the money I have that Miami doesn't make another finals with this core, that's why they're so aggressive about stealing Giannis away.
We've been trying to do the whole 2004 Detroit Pistons thing which is the only true example of what you say for the better part of the last 15 years, John Hammond the main architect of those Pistons teams was our GM for a lot of that time and is the current GM of the Magic which are a quintessential Hammond team mired in permanent mediocrity. No, competing for the 8th seed with no real chance of winning the championship isn't worth it and I'd rather lose/not even have a team than be doomed to an eternity of that again.
There is no moving on from Giannis, this is it if this team & city is ever going to win a championship and if the deck is still too stacked against us then there is no point playing this rigged game any longer. I'd rather have a NHL team in the event of Giannis leaving because at least that league wouldn't be invested in seeing our market fail as the NBA obviously is. If I wanna suspend disbelief then I'll go watch pro-wrestling or the news. There is no collection of assets that would make it worth it, all those pick obsessed weirdos salivate about OKC having all those "assets" will get them ZERO championships nor will they ever be able to cash those assets in for a real star to come to OKC willingly.

Stauskas shot 42% from 3 in Euroleague this season. Also shot 32% from 3 in ACB this season.
