Ill be honest: I see more that I like from this kid as far as skills go than I do from Cole Anthony.

It appears that Birch has taken his fellow Canadian under his wing.

A bunch of videos on Instagram of the two of them training together already.

He looks like he has every bit of a 7' wingspan. He says his position is PG.

Kid looks exciting. His handle looks very slow, but he looks strong like he can still hold on to the ball. Amazing footwork on his pivots in the paint and pump fakes. Uses his body and length to take contact and get the shot up. Very intriguing. Another point of interest for the season.

Is this some anime training to learn a new move? Is he going to show up to the first Magic game and booty blast someone with his brand new ability?

Mané did the virtual NBA combine just a few weeks ago, so we have an up-to-date representation of his measurements.

6'5" barefoot, 196 lbs, 6'11" wingspan, 8’6" standing reach. That's absolutely wing size.

To compare with a couple of current Magic players...

MCW: 6' 4 3/4'' barefoot, 184 lbs, 6'7 1/4" wingspan, 8'5" standing reach
Ross: 6'6" barefoot, 197 lbs, 6'7 1/4" wingspan, 8'5" standing reach

If I had to guess, I would think that the Magic are going to try and develop Mané as a wing even though he's been playing on the ball at the lower levels in Canada.

Personally, I don't think he has nearly enough developed skill to really be a point guard at the NBA level any time soon. It would take years of hard coaching and development.

But as a wing? Mané's physical tools are very real. He's got the size and quickness to be a good defender at the highest level if takes to professional coaching.

Everything I read abut him from Canadian sources projects him as a SG.

So: he gets two years to develop the long-bomb to emerge as Ross' replacement. He will get every chance!

A poor man's Manu would be great, Ginobili is a HoF, but it's very unlikely that he is any close to Manu in terms of BBIQ.

If Mané evolves to even "The next Melvin Frazier", then this was a good signing.

Howard Mass wrote:This is another reason why The Magic traded #45.

They saw someone they liked (Karim Mane) that they knew they could get as an undrafted Free Agent. This happened last year with Dequan Jeffries who unfortunately turned down a Two-Way Deal to try and make the 15 Man Roster which was not ready for.

Jeffries was then claimed by Sacramento and given wait for it, a Two-Way Deal.

Everyone would have been fine with Mane at #45 and now The Magic have him on a Two-Way Deal with Two future Seconds.

I maintain to everyone dealing #45 for Two future seconds (You usually can't get more than one for a 2nd around #45) was a good deal.

I'm not fully on board with that because...

1) they traded the pick so early without knowing who was even in range of being available.

2) I absolutely love some of the guys that got picked after 45.

3) they could've drafted 45 and still added Mane.

4) they said roster spots were too important and then signed some minimal impact players who will come in, collect a check and leave without ever being a memory.

Remember, they also have two rookies (Okeke and Anthony) and Bamba to develop. It's hard to develop people without giving them minutes.

They might have just drafted Mane at #45 too. Jordan Bone was also brought in on a Two-Way Deal.

Someone at #45 could have not made the team as well.
