Haven't watched the full draft, but I was monitoring the picks as it happens. I was crossing all my fingers for Nico Mannion. It was close. A lot of good players still available at 54 - Paul Reed, Jay Scrubb, Devon Dotson, Ty-Shon Alexander, Lamar Stevens, Malik Fitts, Reggie Perry. I am happy with the pick, as I have Cassius Stanley in the 45-50th range. But I would have been happier to get the players I've mentioned above.

Maybe we really are aiming to be more athletic. It's hard to question the pick, but as long as it fits the vision, then why not?

On Kelan Martin. This is perhaps the best news of the off-season for me, so far. Kid's a complete baller. Relentless and is very active since college. He's like a smaller version of Eric Paschall to me (and plays a lot like Malik Fitts too). I hope he gets rotation minutes.

Terrific rebounder. Ok to good in most every other aspect of the game. Really seemed like there shouldn’t have been any reason he’s not an NBA player while here, but he just never got traction toward playing time here in Indy under McMillan. Great locker room guy. Seems like a guy that Nurse could turn into a solid contributor. Great locker room and off court guy.

As others have said, his strength is rebounding and general hustle. His shot came along slightly during his time in Indy, but's shaky. He is decent at running the break and plays downhill fairly well. I wouldn't expect too much out of him, but he could develop into a rotation player with some work that our previous staff didn't seem to really put in with him.

He could end up being a better version of Stanley Johnson. Not exciting, but it's a solid comparison imo.

The deadline to waive and stretch a player is December 9th. In theory, we could elect to do so with Jalen Lecque, as he has only $1.518m in guaranteed money this year, but he's also signed for next year with $0 guaranteed. As such, we could elect to stretch him over 5 years (2 years remaining times 2, plus 1) for a per year hit of $303,596.20, and clear just over $1.2m immediately. This would leave us at 13 players, with around $2.4m. In theory, this would be necessary in order to keep Kelan Martin and stay under the tax, though if we kept Stanley on an NBA deal, we would be within thousands of the tax line.

it isn't clear what kind of contract we gave Martin. was it NBA, 2-way, Exhibit 10? I haven't seen any details. also, no Stanley signing announcement with details. I assume we'll eventually learn them.

Exhibit 10’s have to be one year and he signed a multi year deal. 2-ways can be multi-year, but are insanely rare to do so. It appears he’s on a camp contract, which is purely and nba deal.

We've given a 2 year 2 way before though with Sumner.

Solely due to the injury he was recovering from and the belief he may not even play that first year.

And since the first year of two ways, I think there’s only been 3 or 4 out of almost 200 2 ways handed out that have been straight up 2 years. Bol Bol was one of them and he just got converted before his 2nd year.

19. That's 15 fulls. 13 from last year with Lecque and Martin making 15 replacing Leaf and Alize.

Bowen and Stanley look to be 2 ways. Hammonds and Brimah look to be Ants unless Lecque waived and someone moves up.

Gansey, the Ants coach, has been told to look for new employment. It's not clear whether we want different coaches or if we're just recognizing that there may not be a G League season. If the later, 2 way contract rules should be relaxed.

I would bet it’s at least a change in direction for Ft Wayne and overall development. To let them go in hopes a GLeague season doesn’t occur, but before there’s any reports or likelihood is probably pretty neglectful. Sounds like they’re talking about at least one GLeague bubble in Atlanta, if not regional bubbles.

As for 2 ways, they were already relaxed to 50 game days, rather than 45 days of service. With the ability to have the 2 ways up before and after the GLeague season, this is almost essentially unlimited games, and the 2 ways are playoff eligible this year for the first time.

I'd seen the extra days but I'd overlooked the before the Gleague season. So if there is none or a very limited one, the guys will be in Indy with our coaches a lot.

Story adds that Naz, Amida, and Hammonds all sign Exhibit 10s.
