[Woj] Jazz dump Rayjon Tucker to Cleveland

Post#1 » by loserX » Fri Nov 27, 2020 8:27 pm

Gotta go on the official deals list!

Jazz dump a little guaranteed money under the tax and open a roster spot, Cleveland picks up a future 2nd (details not yet clear) for cheap:

(On a related note, man the Jazz and Cavs like doing business. First the Hood/Crowder deal, then Burks/Korver, then Exum/Clarkson, now this! That's one trade a year for four straight years.)

It's a holiday tradition for the Jazz to send the Cavs a young player, along with a smoked salmon and some caramel popcorn.

It sounds like the Cavs aren't planning on guaranteeing his contract.

Then I'm not sure what the point of this move is. The Jazz could have just waived him and not guaranteed his contract.

Interesting. So the Jazz were looking for the Cavs to take $340k off their payroll. I think the Jazz are still in the LT depending on how the Favors and Clarkson contracts are structured, so I'm not entirely sure if this affects the Jazz's ability to bring in another player.

Looks like the 2nd is 2027, though when Marks says Cleveland is "buying it for $340K" it's not clear how much cash they are also sending to Utah.

Is it literally around $1 to make the trade legal? Is it a "fair" price for a 2nd, less the $340K they're paying Tucker? Somewhere in between?

Looks like the Cavs are paying the $340k contract guarantee to Tucker, plus sending a minimum of $110k in 'cash considerations.' So that would be $450k. Ka-ching!

Iirc, there is a minimum cash that can be sent. I feel like it was 50k, although I could be wrong here, and maybe it went all the way down to 10k.

I did not know this minimum cash limit existed! (Or if I did, I forgot.) Learned something new today; thanks for that!

they prob wont guarantee it given it must be done before camp starts, but they should take a flier on him if they can agree to a lesser amt. he covers a lot of ground and his vertical athleticism is elite enough for him to be a factor defensively at only 6'3 sg.

If I were the Cavs I'd give him a shot, he's a good athlete with some bucket getting instincts.
