How long before Presti trades Ariza away for picks?

Before the season starts?
Within first 20 games?
Right at the trade deadline?

Problem now is with the ping pong balls. Even if you are bottom 3 its not a promise of anything. Its of course better to be lower, but its not very good odds still.

This upcoming draft is supposed to be great, so having the worst record in the NBA should be the goal.

Yeah the teams that jumped to 3rd and 4th picks were directly below us. As long as we finish in the bottom 7/8 teams we have decent odds

On the other hand this dynamic is to our benefit if we slightly improve.

Blake will likely not provide much this year. Grant is the best player we added, and while he’s useful to good teams he’s hardly a “floor raiser” to a bad team.

Looks like we attached a yet-to-be-identified pick to Ariza for Wright.

Likely the SRP Detroit got for the Wood S&T add on to Houston.

I don't see why it needed to be included other than the other GM knows Weaver wouldn't say no. Detroit takes on the extra year of Wright and thus more money overall. And it's not like OKC is capped out and thus needed to save money this year.

So Detroit didn't include the pick?

Nope. I figured it shouldn’t be us.

Dallas sent two picks to OKC 2023 and 2026. I guess Detroit taking on the second year of Delon Wright for the expiring Ariza is mitigated by them saving $3M in cap this season.

Hope it’s true. Makes more sense. If so, a good trade by Weaver.

I’d still like to see Wright flipped. I just see him blocking minutes for Hayes. Make him part of the sign and trade for Grant?

Grant trade is already official. Also IIRC Denver is close to the tax and don't want to go over - especially for Delon Wright. Also Detroit needs more than one veteran point guard rostered - especially given Rose's injury issues.
