Vegas season win totals o/u

Post#1 » by Spud2nique » Thu Nov 26, 2020 7:37 am

Eastern conf. (72 game season)

1. Bucks 50.5
2. Nets 46.5
3. Celtics 46.5
4. Heat 44.5
5. Sixers 44.5
6. Raptors 41.5
7. Pacers 39.5
8. Hawks 38 (38-34) :-?

Ironically for winning the eastern conference we come in at a +4000 ahead of the Wizards +5500 and the Pacers +6000. :-? I’m not sure I completely understand the logic behind that. How are we slated to win less games than the Pacers in the regular season but have a high chance of winning the eastern conference? Oohhhkay.

Either way I’m going over on the Hawks here. Always been optimistic and this year is no different. Vegas says we finish 8th in the East but I’m thinking a lot higher. Also, I do have a feeling though that the league wants to see us go up against the Bucks in round 1, I guess the most realistic way that would happen is if they were a 1/2 seed, I don’t see them dropping to the 3rd seed or lower, that would mean we would have to get the 7th/8th seed. Entirely possible but I’m hoping for a 3/6 4/5 matchup with the Schmelts! I wanna clean their clocks again! If we are the 6th seed and wipe them out as the 3rd seed, even better.

I'm going over as well. We won 29 games with a way less talented team 2 years ago. Last year's team didn't have Collins for 25 games, had a putrid bench, started 2 rookies & a sophmore for majority of the season, and didn't play a full season of games.

This year, we basically adding CC, Boggie, Gallo, Rondo, & Dunn and barring injury, Collins back for an extra 25 games. 40-45 wins is very reasonable. I'm not sold on the Raps being as good as they were last year. They lost Gasol and Ibaka. I feel the bottom 4 fighting for the 7-10 seeds is going to be between Charlotte, Raps, Pacers, and Orlando. We'll secure the 5 or 6 seed.

Hawks at 34 over was super easy money, Hawks at 38 is still money but it's not super easy money that injuries won't have impact. I ultimately think we are looking a team with a wide range. 44-48 win team with a chance for 52 wins in a 72 game season due to depth.

So much rides on these four guys:
Trae Young, Cam Reddish, De'Andre Hunter, and LP.
LP has to be a better version of his rookie self.

Cam has to be a continuation of his 2nd half self like Trae was last year going into his 2nd year.

Hunter has to be much better in his 2nd season and adjustment must be made at the 3 for him.

Trae has to learn from Rondo and be more of a floor general this year.

Thought this was insightful from Kirschner today:

The Hawks’ goal this season is to make the playoffs, and they should accomplish it with the roster they’ve built. Because there has been so little time to practice together before the season begins, the Hawks could need some time for the roster to jell. And let’s not forget that the incumbent players haven’t played meaningful basketball for nine months. There’s a chance that those players will be rusty initially.

Can easily imagine we'll be saying after the first half, I was sure we'd be better than this.

38 wins isnt horrible since its a reduced season. Its like 45-46 wins in a regular season.
My eyes glaze over when reading alternative stat (not advanced stat) narratives that go many paragraphs long. If you can not make your point in 2 paragraphs it may not be a great point. :D

43.27 wins in a regular season not 45-46.

I was guesstimating. Thanks for doing the math. So does .27 win mean .73 loss? :D

No. Shorter season, only 72 total games. 24 games = 33%. 36 wins = .500 ball.
Trying to confuse the matter. Did I make it??

I always have a glass half full outlook. All the teams ahead have allstar players. Many have top 15 players. If ATL makes the playoffs. they will probably need 3 players to have very strong seasons. I think the top 2 are a given. Just need that 3rd guy to step forward.

42-30 seems like a realistic median for record. +\- 5 games.
