Hard cap is because the full MLE was used. Teams are hard capped if they use full MLE, BAE or get a player in a sign and trade. You have a hard salary ceiling (tax apron) which you can't go over for any reason. Usually teams can have as high a payroll as possible, they just pay the luxury tax. Hard cap prevents you from going over a number that is a couple million above the luxury tax threshold.

It's around $139M this season.

Of course we need a point guard but I'm wondering if somebody is vastly improved that we don't know about yet until preseason starts up. Zu, Mann, Kabengele, Jay Scrubb, Oturu, or a camp invite? And don't take what I'm saying here as gospel either people.. I'm just brainstorming/chewing the fat.

They’ll definitely waive Noah/Jackson and sign another forward IMO. It appears they’re waiting on Batum, otherwise, I think they’d lock up the next guy on the list.

Most articles suggest the Clippers have something else planned. A Lou trade. That’s where I’m waffling if they do or not. Camp is 4 days away.

Zu / Ibaka / Oturu
Morris / Patterson / Fi
Leonard / ? / Mann
George / Kenard
Bev / Lou / Bowman

What I don't understand is how are we such in a hard cap and our rivals seems to be signing people left and right?

So I was convinced a Lou trade was imminent a few days ago, but now? Are we just going to start the season with Bev/Lou at point guard?

Hopefully this Oturu contract means he'll actually get a chance to play and develop. Seems like the front office is going for more of a Spurs approach of developing from within.

I don’t know what to think anymore. The closer we get to camp my hopes of him being traded diminishes. I thought they would have waived Noah/Jackson by now too.

2 days from camp and still don’t know the completed roster.

We may have to just start the season and wait for a team like the Pistons to lose any delusion they still have of making the playoffs before they trade someone like Rose.

Dinwiddie was the guy I thought we may have been on the verge of acquiring, but the Rockets’ decision to wait in trading Harden is probably what’s kept that from happening.

It’s interesting to me that so many pundits think the Clippers are trading Lou. Or that they have something up their sleeve. Is it because they’ve heard whispers or because they look at the roster the way we do and feel something else has to happen?

We know they have to waive Noah. Are they really waiting just on Batum?

Wish I had more patience.

Wouldn't be a bad signing as a backup 3/4 but I think I prefer Glenn Robinson III. Still a paranoid of washed-up Eastern Conference forwards.

Hopefully he pulls a Boris Diaw and starts playing inspired basketball again now that he's out of Charlotte.

I'm sure he wants to win so it makes sense to choose a top contender.

But you'd think playing time would be important to him, since he may want more than a minimum contract after this season.

Though he may have a lot less pressure than he did at Charlotte, where after he signed the big contract, he couldn't really produce the scoring expected of him.

I would still go after GR3 we still need a backup SF and help shooting. The bench could also use a leaper
