How would Lebron or CP3 do in the NFL

Post#1 » by EasternHeretic » Mon Nov 30, 2020 12:42 am

With training, would they make good QBs given their vision and high IQ. What about Westbrook or Wall as WR? Good hand eye coordination, basically more athletic Randy Moss.

CP3 would do as well in the NFL as Nate Robinson did in boxing.

LeBron is a very rare athlete in pretty much every since. I think if he seriously trained at his peak, he could've run a legit, electronic 4.5 40 yard dash and he's already incredibly coordinated with extremely nimble feet for operating in tight spaces. As a jump ball threat his bounce and reaction time and size and hands are obvious advantages. His breakaway speed is probably underrated. I'm guessing, assuming he can be somewhat durable, I'd guess LeBron could be an all-pro tight end or wide receiver. Maybe a more athletic Gronk? Possible. Check out these highlights below:

CP3 would be maybe a decent QB. I think he'd be a very good passer with good instincts, but he's short for a QB and doesn't have some crazy athletic advantage. I think CP could've maybe been a D1 QB, but not much else. Doesn't have the freak athleticism or size to stand out in the NFL.

There are average college basketball players that turned into all-time great NFL tight ends because they are tall and can jump.

How do you think Lebron would do at 6'9"?

I don't know about CP3 but I think everyone ("3-6-1" casuals excluded) knows that LeBron would dominate in the NFL.

LeBron was a 2x all-state WR in high school with an offer from Ohio State and other big time college football programs. So, at least in his case, we don’t really have to speculate whether he could play football. He did play football, and he was quite good. It’s just a question of whether he would’ve been good enough to make the NFL.

Lebron would be the greatest in all the land. Of all time. Lucky for NFL junkies he chose basketball where atleast Jordan has an argument. No chance for the football gusy. That league wouldn't be able to handle the greatness. He would also kill it in Nascar too. As a matter of fact I can't think of any sport where Lebron wouldn't dominate outside of female gymnastics.

What is this weird obsession of comparing NBA players to other sports? Also there seems to be this weird thought on here that NBA players are just so far superior athletes compared to athletes in other sports.

The NFL has seen better athletes than Lebron before. A guy like Bo Jackson was a better athlete than Lebron and Bo isn't in the discussion for GOAT.

Weve seen freak athletes like Vernon Davis just have good but not great careers, while a guy like Jason Witten had the better career while not being nearly the same athlete.

Just like with most athletes in other sports, they would get humbled very quickly trying to cross over to a different professional sport.

Who in the NFL is on LeBron's level in terms of strength, speed, durability and skill?

I mean DK Metcalf is faster and stronger than Lebron. Also it's impossible to compare durability between basketball and nfl. Very different physical demands on the body.

Lebron would have potential, but that's all you can really take from it. There a ton of athletic freaks in the NFL

You think DK Metcalf is big? LeBron has 5 inches and 40lbs on him. Thats my thing, you think guys like Megatron and Metcalf are humongous on the outside, LeBron would make them look like slot receivers if he lined up outside.

He would be a TE and he would be similar to Saints version Jimmy Graham. Graham is 6'6" 265 and LeBron is 6'9" 265. They have similar basketball background and much more athletic in short space than guys like Gronk/Kelce.

Remember that LeBron actually toyed with the idea of playing for the Cowboys during the NBA lockout years ago:

The thing with a lot of these hypotheticals is we’re talking about guys’ abilities to play sports they’ve never played before. LeBron played football in high school. He was recruited by Ohio State, Alabama, Notre Dame, Miami, etc. If he focused on football in high school and pursued a football career, I don’t see why he wouldn’t have been successful. He has insane athleticism and durability. In his Miami days he was 6’9 275 pounds.

I feel like we've talked about this a lot in varying threads, but is Bo Jackson for sure a better athlete than LeBron? Bo could run what was probably an electronic 4.2 40, likely had a 40+ inch vertical, had amazing coordination and was, of course, ridiculously strong.

We don't have many measurements for LeBron, but he likely doesn't train for maximum power and explosiveness in the same way Bo/other NFL players did. I wouldn't say LeBron is more athletic than these guys, but I wouldn't be surprised if he could run a sub-11 100m dash and get a 40-inch standing vert and a stellar broad jump and agility if he trained. At his best, he's been arguably the fastest player in the league and one of the quickest. He 's able to get a bunch of chasedown blocks even now. His reaction time, reflexes, speed, quickness and maximum vert are definitely all elite, but then throw in the fact that he's 6'9"? Then look at his refined coordination? I don't think you can just look at combine numbers and bench press stuff to get an accurate take on how athletic LeBron really is. I've followed NFL combines and track for years, and it's hard for me to say flat out that anyone is more athletic than LeBron when size is considered. Same goes for MJ. It just comes down to training and what their sports require.

Where did I say DK was bigger than Lebron. I said DK is faster and stronger than LeBron.
