I’m not questioning his strategy. I’m questioning if he wasn’t going to sign Bogdan in that range, knowing the Hawks only had 19M left why not fold early and get a TPE?
TPE’s are valuable for extra flexibility. Ainge just gave up 2 seconds to get one. Atlanta would have been happy to do a sign and trade to avoid the poison pills with which they are now stuck. He claims he wants flexibility and he **** up a chance to increase it. He’s better than Vlade but not by much.
How do you envision a TPE being used for Sacramento in the near future? I would rather him not fold and try to get one of the Hawks young players.
Celtics are in an entirely different place than the Kings
My preference would have been getting a young player also but clearly that option wasn’t on the table. You should have known you wouldn’t match, ask for a player, if you don’t get it come back with their counter even if it was nothing and get the TPE.
It was GM malpractice. Not at the level of Vlade’s trade to Philly but stupid nevertheless.
Why would it clearly not be on the table?
That’s just GM’ing, playing chicken for one of Atlanta’s assets
Who knows what the market will be for dead contracts, a lot of teams will have cap going forward, and dead salary will mess with the teams flexibility
