At 271 million NBA earning, more than any NFL player ever, he'll be fine.

I think he just wants to be the man again. Money not an issue.

Such a bummer it didn’t work out. The worst luck. I wish him well, but but don’t mind him leaving at all. I don’t think there is a negative effect to the Cs.

I mean I'm not stupid he obviously had a role here and made this team play pretty well but there was a clear log jam issue not so much with Tatum because it's been clear Tatum has been the guy since kyrie first year here, but brown mostly. Brown will either blossom and this teams about to have a serious 1, 2, 3 punch or he wont...his play will determine how good this team is more than anyone else in my mind.

Same. Still rooting for the guy. I think he's still got game. His salary (market value when he was signed 3 yrs ago), his reduced role (coach's call), his wife's affiliation w/ a certain undesirable individual, and his freak injuries (not really his fault) have warped people's opinion of him. Interested to see how he does in Charlotte as a 2nd option guy at worst (but no one that good to pass to). Wouldn't wish for him to be the next Batum or Chandler Parsons. I think the play-in tournament is a possibility for them. But with the upcoming draft, they're better off losing a ton of games. Don't really know what the Hornets FO is doing.

Can't wait for us all to freak out when he's averaging 22/7/5 down there.
Luckily we can still say we wouldn't have done it for the money.

Yeah, but it won't be true for very long. LeBron didn't make 30m in a season until 4 years ago.

I don't know if we are putting qualifiers on that, but Jordan signed 1 year deals in each of his last 2 seasons in Chicago

30.1 and 33.1

He made more than the entire salary cap after being way underpaid the majority of his career.

I’m still bugged by this . Money aside there had to be reason why he was looking in the first place .

I think he wanted to be a #1 or worst #2 option as he was in Utah, as he was paid to do.

One of these guys was injured all playoffs and missing bunnies when he did play. The other was Jaylen Brown.

Feel bad about how Hayward's tenure here unfolded, but he was a shell of himself by the end. Maybe the injury bug stops biting him in CHA, maybe the lower pressure will let him relax and play more aggressively, but it was time to move on.

HOw many times did he score 20+ points for us? 30+? Im not sure how to look this up, but the totals would be low. And it's wasn't really a KG thing where he obviously could score more but shot less for the good of the team. GH just never really put it all together for us after injury. I remember once or twice where he'd have 2 or 3 games of 20+ points in a row and ya think, hey maybe he's gonna turn it on now. But it never happened.

I guess you took a break from the Celtics in 2019-2020? Hayward was a tremendously efficient player in his last year (50.0%/38.3%/85.5%). It's not all about the points, Hayward did a little bit of everything. His presence on the floor made this team much better, almost every time. If you expected his impact to be only measured by points, then you probably forgot that he was the 4th option—yet he managed to average 17.5 ppg. What did you expect, four 26ppg scorers?

The experiment didn't work because of his injuries. Came off the bench when he was asked to, never pouted (despite some comments to that effect on this forum), and that was it. Was the price tag justified? Probably not. But he didn't do anything wrong.

No need to be condescending, I'm not saying he's not a good player, Im not saying he was a problem here or that anything was his fault. My point was just that he very seldomly took over games. At his price tag, you'd hope that once and a while he'd have a really good shooting night and lead us in scoring. I'm not sure how to look that up, but I don't remember it happening a lot. Again, not his fault. I get he was injured and I get that scoring isn't everything. I do think it makes for an interesting question on why CHA wanted to pay him so much? They are paying him as if he left UTAH and went on to have 3 allstar seasons with us. I suspect it may be to help ticket sales. And I bet on CHA he will sore more and someone will have to.
