I hope you are right but never trust G-League. Also I think we will keep that 1 roster slot open for trades etc. in the mid-season.

Edit: btw I would prefer Motley over D.Jones.

We can always cut Motley or Jones if we need that roster spot.

We have a two-way contract spot available yet, that would be perfect for Motley.

No need to use the 15th roster spot for him.

It will be Motley's 4th season in the NBA. He can't sign a 2-way contract.

CBA FAQ: "A player is ineligible to sign a Two-Way contract if he will have more than three years of NBA service at any point in the contract."

Considering how devalued bigs are these days (especially the ones that can’t hit 3s), I don’t think it’s a no brainer that Ayton will have max offers from other teams.

Like WG said, this season will be important in Ayton’s development. He has to learn to be able to create his own shot and protect the rim better to reach max status imo. Scoring 80% of his pts off assisted buckets and offensive rebounds ain’t it.

Gotta be able to throw the ball down to him and let him create on his own. Like KAT does for Minnesota.

Ohhh ****.
Thank you.

That are bad news for him IMO because it looks like we want to wait for an interesting player being waived.

Probably non-guaranteed for the season like Damian Jones.

Edit: I do like that James Jones is bringing in hungry veterans to compete for jobs instead of a bunch of young inexperienced guys.

OKC's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Atlanta's Trae Young are candidates for the five-year, $168 million max extension. Other extension candidates (likely below the max) include Deandre Ayton, Jaren Jackson Jr., Miles Bridges, Michael Porter Jr., Mikal Bridges and Collin Sexton.

1. We offer below the max and hope he takes it after this season.
2. If he doesn't take it, you wait a year to see what the market offers him and match if necessary.
It's just too early to predict contracts. This coming 3rd season will matter more towards determining both Birdges and Aytons value the the past two years combined. The 3rd year is an important one for players and often when we see a leap if they are a star. Look at Booker, after his second season his numbers wouldn't have indicated he was some no brainier max guy but he took a step in year 3 and even then some nationally questioned if he was really worth a max.

Bridges is going to be a super interesting extension case. Chances are he's not going to have numbers that scream big extension but I also don't think it's a secret that he's good and impactful. I think he ends up with a pretty big contract.

Yea Bridges is who I worry about. Presently, I could see a deal around 4 years 60 mil but.

If Giannis only signs a 2 year deal this offseason, I would be careful with Ayton for now. Depending on how the next 2 seasons go, perhaps we can get him interested. Use Ayton as part of a s/t. Then re-sign Paul and run it back with Booker/Ayton/Giannis

Didn't Smith say in an interview that he was superstitious about his number, and wanted 25? Hopefully being the draft pick number will give him the luck he needs.

The new Suns catch phrase ... "Positional Battles". Other than CP3 and Booker sounds like playing time is up for grabs.

Worst move for Jones this offseason is putting this dull background image for the interview. Hope my colleagues find my ideas much more creative.

Funny, because he does mention Mikal in an interview. I guess he didn't think he would get drafted by the Suns. :D I hope #10 works for him, and doesn't make him suck.

This is an amazing find  It may not be the case but still...

Wow.

And in 2018 Mikal Bridges was 2nd and Jevon Carter was 3rd.

And Kaminsky was top in 2015 according to another tweet in the replies.

Anyone know what site they're using for that? I'd love to go back further in time and try to get a sense of how well it correlates to NBA success.

This struck me as surprising at first because Jones doesn't seem like a big analytics guy, but then again he's also a "the draft is a crap-shoot" and "you don't win games with prospects" guy. Makes sense to find something measurable that correlates to success and use that to narrow down your list, and then try to choose the hard workers and good cultural fits from there.

Sadly this will keep my pointless "maybe we'll get Tyrese Haliburton someday anyway" dream alive.

If his goal is just to get to the second contract, he may be fine with not getting the max. He also doesn't seem like the type of guy that would hold a grudge for not getting it. His agent may convince him to try and enter RFA though...but he might decline if he likes it. But if we were to offer just under the max, it might be worth giving it to him...of course that all depends on how much he improves.

Seems early for those guys to already get the max extension unless they are talking about next summer. Tatum just go his recently I think.

I definitely wouldn't give it to Ayton early though...I'd wait to see how he does in his 4th season barring a monster season this year.

RAPTOR hasn't been updated yet for this upcoming season though meaning it has not taken last season into account yet.

Will be interesting to see what it looks like once updated.

If that's what both guys are commanding, there might be a tough decision to be made. Given who our owner is, I imagine we know what direction we're going to go.
