Re: Evan Mobley - USC
Is Evan coming into the league as one of the better passing bigs day one? I'm watching these reads and how quickly he makes them, the pinpoint and variety is high as well, and he's doing them in transition, out of doubles, and from both high and low post.

yessuh, he is, his head is always on a swivel and has all the skill to make those passes, being able to put the ball on the floor and pass out of double teams alone is a huge + at the NBA level

I somehow knew you'd be seeing the same thing I'm seeing. Right now it's my favorite part of his game and the aspect needing the least amount of polish applied. He's gonna be a real problem under some coaching and weight training.

Fluidity and coordination and mobility is a lot more important for guys with that type of length than explosion is. He’s going to be a real problem when he gets stronger.

he really doesn't look his listed height of 7'. I think he's closer to 6'10" with shoes on. He reminds me of Bosh. I was actually expecting more from this class tbh but it's early.

Yea, there is still no LeBron at the top of this draft, but it's so rich with all star level talent. I might not be as thrilled about having the first pick as a year where there is a monster coming out, but if you're in the top 5, you have to be completely stoked, because there are basically guys that fit every playing style and type.

I don't think strength is going to be a big issue with Mobley, I do think his scoring upside is somewhat limited though, he is more of a support player, a good weird one, than a star to me

not every class is gonna come with a Zion or AD or LeBron, but if you're a team picking in the top 5 in this class you've gotta be absolutely stoked.
and you hit the nail on the head with your last point, it's the type of players that's even more intriguing.

Re: Evan Mobley - USC
low usage, high impact, multi-level big on both sides of the court who can create on his own and for others...he's the #1 guy for me right now and that's saying a lot considering how much I like Green.
he's an absolutely amazing athlete...not explosive, but so effortless, no wasted movements at all and so efficient.

Highest ceiling in the class? Sooooo much to work with and still soooooo far to go.

I just don’t see what his weakness is.

His base, might get pushed around a bit till the weight gets put on and I need him to be more active off ball defensively. At this level specifically there should be nothing in the paint if Evan is located anywhere from baseline to free throw line. Shot block discipline is also a must and he'll need to do his early work for boards until he puts some size on.
Was thinking about this exact thing last night lol.

The only thing that can hold him back is motor – I'm not convinced he has a really good one yet. In terms of skills and intelligence, he's incredible for a big man and his athleticism is not elite but still pretty good.
edit: And for a Center I agree, he might struggle a bit against the really big guys.

Re: Evan Mobley - USC
if I am the Dubs and picking 4th I'd take Mobley without thinking twice, he can play the 4 next to Wiseman if we want to go big no problem, he can play a traditional set at the 5 next to Dray no problem, and is skilled enough to play pivot in a 'small' ball lineup with a Paschall/Dray front court -- his versatility is uncanny as a big, that's what makes him special.

I guess the better way to word it is that I don’t see a weakness that isn’t fixed with more experience.

Easily. That's reps, weight room, and coaching. Evans prime in the league is going to be scary.

Honestly, he's one of the safest prospects I can remember. There really is very little to pick apart with his game.

He is sooooo similar to Chris Bosh in his movements, and even with how he plays
