Bogdan is an inferior version of Fournier, and Gallo is a standing jump shooter at this point in his career and has always been a weak defender. I would have been extremely disappointed if we had spent resources on getting those guys.
i saw waaay too much international head to heads to know that on good team Bogdan >>Evan and it's not even funny how much more talented Bogdan is. He just spent NBA career on trash Kings.
Galo is streach PF at this stage. But elite shooter non less. Also elite scorer if you see how little shots he takes to get to his 17-19 ppg.
I think international hoops is cool, and I want it to continue to grow, but it is quite simply not a very good indicator for NBA performance. It's not entirely useless, but it's dramatically less useful for measuring NBA performance than actual NBA performance is. When we compare NBA performance, the evidence shows that Fournier is a slightly better player (I won't bore you with the stats, but they are pretty clear). The Hawks have to pay Bogdan $18m/year ($1m than Fournier is making this year) for four years. Bogdan and Fournier are the same age.
Gallo is Ryan Anderson (also loved by advanced stats) with less rebounding. The Hawks are paying him $20m/year for three years. That's $2m more than AG is making this year, and $3.5 more than he will make next year. In the last year of Gallinari's contract, he will make $550k less than Vooch and be two years older. I can't overstate how pleased I am that we do not have to pay that money to Gallinari.
Are there really Magic fans on this board who wish we had made these moves? When people imagine the Magic as being free of the AG and Vooch contracts, are these the kinds of signings they want to spend that money on? If the answer is a clear no (as I think it is), then why on earth should we be praising Atlanta for those moves?
International hoops are bit different, but it's still basketball, and still same rules.
Bogdan really never played that much worst than Evan did, he just never had acess to Evan's usage rate.

They are very similar players, Evan is better pure shooter, but Bogdan is better playmaker, less turnover prone, more athetic, bit better rebounder.
Whole idea that Evan is overpayed is kind a false anyway. It's fans- made narrative. Same fans who now want exstend Fultz on $20M contract and think $25M for always injuried Isaac is good value. Same people who cried themselfs to sleep after Vuc exstension of cca $25M a year.
As far as Galo -Ryan Anderson goes, man you are far, far off with that. Ryan Anderson, objectivlly was only good for 3 years in nba.
Guy is 32, and out of nba for 2 years.
Difference is defense (and clearly offense). Ryan was slow-footed guy who couldn't stand in front of anybody. Slim frame, not muscular, glued to the floor. Galinari isn't great defender by any streach of imagination, but due his strong 6'10- 235 pounds frame, players really don't attack him or go at him that much. He is also kind a good isolation defender. Last year for example ( 2018-19 ) he was attacked as target man in iso plays 20% of time, and his opponents only gained 0,80 points per possession, making him 67th percentile defender

Those additions ( + Capela) are very good additions for team like Atlanta who picked their young stars and now it's time to put something good around them. Magic, on other hand, have no real value of adding talent to a roster where nobody younger than 25 is really that good. Even if you biggest Isaac beliver, there is zero objective reasons to buidl around guy who never plays.
