2021 NBA Draft - Spoilers OK
Crazy that we just finished the 2020 draft and 2021 scouting season is upon us already, but here we are.
Jalen Suggs was, to me, the standout of the first couple days. He came into the season viewed as a late teens pick but very promising start for him.

Cade Cunningham is the top prospect, it’s not even really close if you ask me... but no one asked me so there it is... I like BJ Boston a lot too and Moussa Cisse is my sleeper pick no one really talks about. He’ll be a lottery pick. Hopefully that ages well.

Cunningham looks nice. Grant Hill-ish. Probably (will be) a better shooter, though.

Yeah I mean he’s essentially a 6’8” PG with everything to his game that you want. He’s an explosive athlete, knockdown shooter, quick, elusive, good vision. Idk I think he should be the #1 pick convincingly as of now.

I rarely know anything about the freshmen, but returning players I'm keeping an eye on:
Wendell Moore, Duke
David Johnson, Louisville
Alan Griffin, Syracuse (transferred from Illinois)
Scottie Lewis, Florida

I like Scottie Lewis at 30 a lot.

Saw Gonzaga vs Kansas last night. Jalen Suggs is an absolute stud PG. He was a QB in HS, and it shows - he carries himself like a big-time QB - definitely has the self-confidence you want in your floor leader. I think he's already their best prospect - even though some rate Kispert a top 10 pick. It'll be interesting to see how he and Ayayi split the PG duties.

I don't know much about US prospects yet but the international class is rather weak.

I watched 2 Gator games and each time Scottie Lewis looked like he shouldn't be on the floor.emunney wrote:I rarely know anything about the freshmen, but returning players I'm keeping an eye on:

I’m looking into the 2030 draft since it’s the next time we’ll have a pick.

Good call. I guess I had kind of filtered him out because I assume he's long gone.
Overall feels like college ball is extremely barren (excluding freshmen). I'm sure some other guys will emerge.
I love Garuba but he's long gone I'm sure.

Did somebody ask for ill-timed homer takes based on nothing except perception? Keep an eye on Scottie Barnes, people!

Re: 2021 NBA Draft Scouting
That drive by Rocket Watts in the Michigan State v Duke game was a "whoah" moment. The speed in which he knifed through the lane against Duke, was "wow." Seems to put in the effort on D. If he can drill that triple this season, you have a riser on your hands.

Jalen Johnson is the real deal, even though he had a down game against Michigan State.

Re: 2021 NBA Draft Scouting
Suggs and Mobley are the two that have really stood out to me in the early going so far this season. Cunningham is still somewhere in the top 3 if not #1 even for me, but he's been underwhelming compared to the hype around him IMO.

It'd be so much fun to be a good team and also have one of those extra picks in the lotto. What a draft this is gonna be.

Re: 2021 NBA Draft Scouting
I love Jalen Suggs like he was my own son. Plays like a seasoned veteran at 19. Huge, huge fan.
Incredible athlete. Recruited by Georgia and Ohio St. to play football, along with a bunch of B10 schools. Kid's got it all.

Re: 2021 NBA Draft Scouting
Might be a year too early and he admittedly has no draft buzz right now, but I think Syracuse has a prospect worth keeping an eye on for the first time in awhile in Kadary Richmond. I watched a lot of his high school games at Brewster Academy (an absolutely loaded team with 8 D1 freshman including projected lottery pick Terrence Clarke) and Kadary always stood out as their best player IMO.
Just got his first start at Syracuse due to Boeheim's son having Covid and he put up 16 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 steals, and 3 blocks.
If he gets enough playing time this year, I think he might end up being 1-and-done. If Boeheim doesn't give him a lot of playing time like he tends to do with his freshman, I think next year will be the year for him but he's got the goods.
