They are going to have to develop that Quayside site because there's no way they're going to let the prime of all our young players happen playing out of Buffalo or somewhere else. It needs to happen in the Skydome.

I think the idea is that they build the new stadium while also having the players play in the rogers centre, because theres 0 chance they play in any other city. Who knows if thered actually enough space.
They probably end up moving away from that area and building a new stadium on the water.

this is the perfect year to do it and start the project. get it ready by 2022. minimal fans this year anyways.
they need 18 months if its an outdoor stadium, probably.

It would take a lot longer than that because they also need to demolish it, but I don't think it will happen anyways because of how iconic it is to our skyline, it's history as a building (like Maple Leaf Gardens) and the fact that there are buildings very close to it and it would make Front street uninhabitable.

the skydome is iconic, but with that land being owned by the government, this is their chance to build some kind of greenspace in that area. the city is becoming a one trick pony with condos, rapidly losing its character and the charm its once had. leaving the skydome as is as a heritage site of some sort will be like the Olympic stadium. last time i was there i think i saw rust. it will just be neglected.
the city has an asset, the waterfront. it should be used before the condo developers take it all. ontario place and the surrounding area has all the parking you would want.

New Ball Park in Toronto isn’t in Shapiro’s 'windshield’ - TSN
Mark Shapiro admits a new stadium in Toronto was something he was working towards when he arrived, but with the recent pandemic, it just isn't something in his 'windshield' at this time. He also discusses the team's pursuit of a few high end free agents and the possibility of bringing on a big name player.

Jays just announced new artificial turf. That's not a sign of a new stadium anytime soon.
