Tonights Game: September 9th
Turner Field | 1:05 PM ET
Jason Bergmann, RHP (3-5, 4.30)
Nationals (63-79) @
Lance Cormier, RHP (2-4, 6.69)
Braves (73-69)
Scouting Report:
Nationals: Since returning from a left hamstring injury, Bergmann has looked better than ever on the mound. He threw seven innings on Monday, allowing just one run and striking out nine. The righty's sinker is coming in faster than it did before the injury, and he's using an impressive variety of pitches to retire hitters.
Braves: Cormier came up empty in his first five starts this season, but has now won two in a row. In truth, he has pitched much better in his last four outings than he did in his first four, which included one relief appearance. Cormier is 2-2 with a 3.12 ERA since Aug. 17. Against the Phillies on Sunday, he allowed a season-low one run in 6 2/3 innings. Cormier is 3-1 in the past two Septembers. He is 3-3 lifetime against the Nationals in eight appearances, including three starts.
