Going by the eye test or stats, thats just not what happened.
Honestly, not possible to have a conversation with him about last season unless we address his mental breakdown. Im not sure what coach would be best to help him when that happens. best to being in mental health professionals

Lost in the sketchy talk about his use is the the topic of how badly this team was handled. The clippers team of the past had these exact same issues and they were ignored of dismissed. People talk about leadership when we had Chris Paul and this still happened. Chris Paul was in talks of coming back because Doc left

But a borderline top 10 player like that... playing that bad without a known injury, the coach does have to accept some of the blame. Paul George has played well against good teams in the playoffs before, and I don't see that his game has dropped off in any obvious way. He never looked great last year on the Clippers, and some % of that is how he was used. He's not wrong describing how Doc used him. Paul George is a very good shooter but not Ray Allen or JJ good, especially not out of that specific action. Paul George IS however: a 6'9 elite athlete with a sick pull up game... thought we rarely felt that last year.
Hoping PG bounces back next season and we get to see the Clippers we thought we'd see last year. If not, it's a bad look for everyone involved.
Meh. PG is usually closer to top 20 as a player than top 10. IDK that he's an elite athlete. Slow first step. Not a lot of power. Not a lot of speed, not a lot of shiftiness. He lacks those attributes that made it easy for people like Kobe to score.
This is PG's fault. He's overrated and I think CJ can outplay him and they Blazers can beat the Clippers.

True he's probably in a women's locker room somewhere.

Re: Paul George: Doc Rivers tried to use me like JJ Redick + made no playoff adjustments.
I have to go off on a rant. I get putting up with Kawhi...he's a star and a champion. He gets to manipulate things the same way a LeBron and Kobe did...you put up with it to have a player of that magnitude.
I don't understand PG or why anyone would want him at this point. He vastly overrates his own self-worth and abilities to go with an incredibly fragile ego and zero mental toughness.
Case and point...how are you going to throw Doc under the bus like this? While completely making up what really happened like no be else was paying attention. Doc put PG in a career high 33% of PNR where he is excellent (81st percentile in the league) and only ran him off screen 14% of the time and spot up 12% of the time. Because let's be honest he had to do some of that because he plays with Kawhi freaking Leonard who needs the ball before PG does. But Doc still found him a career high in handling the ball...but Doc is treating him like JJ Reddick...oh and PG was 88th percentile of coming off screens and 82nd percentile spotting up. Doc put him in spots where he could succeed. And PG is still bitching about Doc...I can’t stand Paul George. PG is an immature little ****.
I don’t think Doc is the greatest coach in the world but he surely doesn’t deserve PG attacking him when he did completely right by the guy....even after what PG did to his daughter.

That was my main point all year, including before the season, why I didn’t consider the Clippers the favorites. I felt their pg situation and interior defenders were very substandard and it would be their downfall. It was easy to see for those of us paying attention.

I actually think George had better physical traits than Kobe, especially before the injury. Its just that Kobe honed his body to get 100% out of his talent. It never looked like Paul George put that type of work in.
But look at Indiana PG...that certainly wasn't a slow first step.

nobody has done less with more than Doc Rivers. None of this surprises me in the slightest. He's the most fraudulent coach in NBA history

Doc obviously deserves some of the blame, but he wasn't the guy consistently missing high % shots.

Because it is Paul George, my first reaction is to criticize him, but because it is also Doc Rivers who as a Clippers fan I've had longer experience with, I also know that while George is deflecting in these clips (didn't see the full interview), he is not incorrect to an extent about how he was used, and the adjustments problem is not a new concern.
Here's the thing, talk is cheap, let's see it this season.

Just look at his last 4 playoffs appearances and his performances:
The advanced stats and box score stats look even worse. He would have something like four 6 for 20 shooting games and then one 16-20 game (a loss), and FG% for the playoff series would look almost acceptable at 40%.

such a loser. could never work with a guy like him. this is the type of guy who's busy looking for excuses while dealing with adversity instead of looking for ways to get over the hump. type that'll even sabotage the team if he can somehow spin the narrative in his head to make himself look blameless.
screw these absolute garbage refs

The coaching was pretty bad, but PG was also bricking wide open shots the entire playoffs. It's not like he wasn't getting looks.

I wonder if George has ever felt that he was at fault for anything. It seems anytime he's gotten criticized over the years he's always pointing the finger elsewhere.

Clip of next week’s episode
Doc isn’t a good coach. His strengths were in team and player management but all that was trash last year. Do
Doc giving Jamal “No defense black hole” space Crawford 30 minutes a game to do whatever he liked was just simply egregious and proof of his terrible tactics and roster construction as the rest of the team was good enough to win more.
But PG13 is full of **** here and neither he nor Kawhi have taken any responsibility for the Clippers’ failure. He got 2.5 possessions per game off of spot up, 14% of his possession and produced 1.15 points per possession.
PG13 got 6.8 possessions per game (33% of all his possessions) being a screen action creator. That’s the third highest firms second option in the NBA behind CJ McCollum and Denis Schroeder. LeBron himself only had 7.0 such possessions per game. George produced .97 Points for possession off of it which is actually top 20%.
He got 2.4 possessions in ISO, and produced .75 PPP, bottom 23% in the NBA. He did produce .92 PPP in 2019 which is much better.
PG13 got 3.0 possessions per game off of screens, but he produced 1.16 points per possession off of those, top 11%-12%.
He only got 1 possession per game in post up (where the possession ended with his action from the post) but that’s still top 50 in the NBA for players who played as many games as he did since teams don’t post up anymore for a variety of reasons. He produced a trash .74 ppp there so of course they’re not going to to it often.
He produced the best off of the screens and spot ups he thinks he’s too good for though he has produced well out of ball screens (had a very good year in OKC doing that).

PG can't play off of others and he's not an elite leader. The fact that he can't gel with someone as adaptable as Kawhi is a huge red flag.
