Should be interesting. In one sense, this was probably the best outcome for both Houston and the Wizards.

How more or less likely do y'all think this makes a Harden deal?

Wall/Harden backcourt isn't going to work either. Just more expensive.

In the immediate future, I think it makes it less likely.

Agreed. Wall healthy should be an interesting fit with Harden. Hes a more willing passer. Plus we get the Wall + cousins combo finally! With wood and tucker.

I just don't know about trading for Wall sight unseen after that injury.

Harden being traded isn't a matter of if but when. Dumping RoCo and now eating Wall's contract for 1st round picks is a very clear direction. They're just holding out in an attempt to maximize their return (as the Nets package isn't exactly a home run for a top 5 player).

Wall and Harden will not play together.

It may take some time for the Rockets to come down on their asking price, but they will eventually:

I think wall is a much better theoretical fit but... He hasn't played in two years. Big risk. Was hoping for better with wall when I said I wasn't against this as a framework. I'd bet Harden wanted this. While he and Russ are friends I think they both realize they don't fit together so he wanted another friend who can fit better, he and wall are close as well

I don't like it either. But Westbrook is who he is. Not like him having a good year changes his value much

To compound off of this, James Harden is good friends with John Wall and has been training with him over this off-season, so this is very much a "last attempt" to win Harden over.

It'll be interesting to see if Houston can package their recently acquired picks to improve their roster. This should make them significantly worse, but we will see.

Need to see the protections anything more than top 5ish protected and I don’t like the gamble for Houston

Going to be hard with the apron issues unless they can combine them with eg to get a cheaper contributor

Anyone picked up the protections yet?

Agreed, I think this convinces harden to at least give it a chance. I liked Wall's defense so I think he is better suited playing next to harden. I guess there was harder feeling between the Wizards and Wall. If this does not work out harden better look in the mirror. Beverely, Paul, Westbrook and now Wall.

I like this deal for Washington, I think Beal’s ability to play off ball will look great with Westbrook and Bertans should benefit from Westbrook as well

This deal makes my head hurt. I know Westbrook does not have the value of a year ago but for it to drop this much is baffling. Plus trading for another player whose game I truly hate makes my stomach turn. All are losers in this deal
