Hey you all. Now that the dust has settled on the draft have you talked yourselves into being happy with Ball? That's what most fan bases do. With a couple exceptions we've talked ourselves into being happy with Edwards. Do you wish you could have worked something out with the Wolves to get Wiseman or Edwards? I was right that you weren't going to get Wiseman without a trade up. Were the Wolves just too greedy? Do you know if Bridges was offered with 3 for the move up? I think the Wolves turned you down because we were convinced that if you took Wiseman the Warriors would have taken Edwards.

Celtics took Yam Madar, a likely stash (because they have no roster spots) who jumped on the radar when teams were watching Deni tape.

Of course we took Riller.

Out of Wiseman, Edwards and Ball I would take Ball 10 of 10. 2nd Wiseman then Edwards. I hope he works out for you guys tho.

Congrats to you. When I visited here prior to the draft the very strong consensus was that Ball might be who you got stuck with and what to do if that happened. I'm not a fan of Ball. I wanted Wiseman more than Edwards, but I will settle for Edwards. For those who do like Ball the Wolves got a much better version of him and all it cost us was part of the #17 pick in the draft. We got the one who's not only a better passer/ball handler but a better shooter and much better defender. A bit older true.

Actually has been improving every year and last year was his best season. Check the stats. I legitimately prefer him to Ball even considering the age, but that's just me. I think he has 5 good years left and I'm uncertain if Ball has any good years left. I don't wish Ball any ill will, but his shot is soooooooooooooo broken.
I of course have to worry if the NFL comes offering a contract to Edwards.
Honestly I wouldn't be surprised at all if the NFL does offer, but I doubt they will offer as much as we did. He's under contract now.

A “bit” older. That’s hilarious. Since when is 11 years a “bit” older?

If that’s how you evaluate things then how about I give you $1.00 and you give me a “bit” more back?

Hahahahahahahahahaha.

Get out of here with your nonsense.

I don't need to convince myself to like Ball. Our GM and coach love him and I respect their basketball acumen. If you watch their pressers they both emphasized playmaking as the number one need on the roster. James Borrego called Ball an elite playmaker. Ball is going to make everyone around him better. Edwards is going to pad his stats alongside two other players who pad their stats. He will be sensational though, just not the franchise building block you need at one. I think LaMelo is a franchise pass-first PG with small forward length. I believe he's longer than Hayward. He's also not afraid to shoot deep. JB thinks his shot is workable. After the draft over dinner he asked Kupchak and JB if he could show them some things in an open gym and put on an exhibition past midnight. He loves the game.

So I think we have a Ben Simmons type bedrock piece. I think the Wolves will regret taking the scorer over the playmaker even though Edwards will be an All-Star. Thank God we didn't have a chance to grab Wiseman and we took BPA instead of Okongwu who I believe will be a role player.

There's another team that will certainly jump us in the standings. Attempting to win this year was a stupid idea

Westbrook is definitely better than Wall is, so that makes Washington better. Whether he makes them good enough to make the playoffs, I doubt it, but they should be better than us.

Westbrook + Beal is a good match. The rest of their team still sucks though.

I wonder where Harden will end up.

so what? if we end up not making the playoffs we end it with another lottery pick and who knows maybe we will get lucky again and end up with a top 5 pick.

ESPN has the Hornets 11th in the East and out of the playoffs with 31 wins. Hayward does move the needle some, but Charlotte will need to make another move or have lottery luck again to alter their horizontal trajectory.

11th is probably about right. Who knows what happens with covid this season though. I wouldn't be shocked with 9th or 13th. No way we make playoffs without play in games tho.

There isn't much benefit to being in the absolute cellar now with the flatter lottery odds. We're likely going to finish around the same spot we did last year and very well could jump into the top 4 again.
