You gotta give these guys time to develop. Look at Brandon Ingram his rookie season was terrible now he got a 158 million after putting up 24-4-4. Not saying he is Ingram and cant bust but I'll at least give him a couple seasons.

Sekou trajectory reminds me of Jayson Tatum. not saying he will reach it but I think he can reach it if he wants it bad enough. I wasn't overly impressed with Tatum's first year

it wasn't until last season that Tatum really showed out. We shouldn't expect Sekou to be all he can be in just his second season. But I do agree with Casey and that is to force feed him and demand more of him in his second season. Put more responsibility on his plate. no more standing in the corner waiting for the ball. involve him in the pick-and-roll. Post ups.

If you really try and break it down, there are 4 types of players;

Starter-Will always start on any team. (True starters. Think Lebron, to Billups)

6th man-Could start on some teams, but works best being the focal point of the bench. Comfortable having the starter rest for a game or two, and having this player start. Former solid bench player, who elevated their game, or aging starter who can't handle starter minutes anymore.

Solid bench player-Valuable member of any team. Will have a 10-15 year career, and will contribute. Often sweeteners involving deals for starters.

Role player-Players who have talent, but never really put it altogether so they are relegated to being the 8th, 9th, and 10th man. Have moments of brilliance, but are never consistent. Have major holes in their games due to a myriad of factors that limit them from ever sticking to a team, or consistent playtime.(think Boban) are always the fillers in trades.

This is honestly how I see the league and it's players.

Somewhere between role player and all star. Good starter, that's my hope/prediction.

i think people really need to temper their expectations. sekou came in as an athletic (not elite athlete) combo forward who was pretty raw skill-wise. i wouldn't say he exceeded expectations in his rookie season, he shot less than 40% from the field on tiny volume. he shot 53% at the rim which is like 14 percentage points lower than league average, on top of shooting poorly everywhere else too. those numbers are pretty grim, even if you're factoring in his inexperience.

personally i'm hoping he's a big-bodied wing defender-role player that's offensive game is enough that he can be an effective ~35% 3 point shooter on catch and shoots and add in some backdoor cuts every once in a while. because right now he is soooo far away from being an effective player with the ball in his hands.
