Re: The Ben Simmons Megathread - Part IV
I really think this is the year that will make or break Ben's career trajectory. He needs to be a top 10 player this year if he ever has MVP and championship aspirations. That's just the truth. Here's what I think needs to happen for him to be that player:
1. Top 3 DPOY candidate
2. >8 free throw attempts per game
3. 70% free throw percentage (big jump he needs to take)

Re: The Ben Simmons Megathread - Part IV
As the saying goes.. “focus on the bad stuffs, because the good stuffs will take care of itself.”
I think the key in Ben’s game is for him to focus on offense and just forget about improving on defense. He is already good on defense maybe even better on what is only required.
If we want a defensive wing who can’t shoot, we could just sign MKG.
He should focus on his shooting and have some go to moves on ISO.
Let Embiid be in charge of our defense. He should be responsible when a guard like Kemba gets open jumper because he sagged too low. He should be responsible if our team’s rim protection declines again. He’s the guy who should be going for DPOY.
For offense, let Ben be in charge. As a team’s point guard he should be responsible in getting our team good shots in transition, in halfcourt defense and in crunch time. He’s the guy who should be finding ways to atleast score 28ppg, not Embiid.
You can’t have doubts what his role will be or if he will have to play in a diminished role in crunch time or when we need a 3 to win the game.
This question about “who will be our go to guy” is a shade on him IMO.
How can you have an all NBA team guard that you can’t go to on offense when you need a basket?
It’s part skillset and part coaching. I think coaching wise, Doc can run sets where a shooter can pick and pop for him like how coaches run plays for guys like Siakam, Jimmy or Giannis.
But skillwise, come on man. How can you not show any improvement with your go to moves, iso, post or shooting?
For me, Ben will be entering his fifth year. He spent his first year training with our team when he had his chance for player development.

There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

I was very disappointed that nobody asked Morey in that Reddit AMA about his expectations and hopes for Ben's offensive development.

Re: The Ben Simmons Megathread - Part IV
He’s entering his 5th season. It’s now or never. This season will define his legacy. Either he stays the course as a very good all star caliber player. Or he takes that mental leap to wanting to be an MVP of the league.
He literally has every physical tool and advantage to do so. It’s just comes down to the mindset and mental aspect with him. It always has.
If we don’t see another level to his game, he’ll be traded for Harden at mid season anyway. Hopefully this is his Iverson to Detroit wake up call.

I think there's a deal within the org that goes something like... Ben, you need to do this this and this or else you're gone for Harden by game 50

Simmons had a scheduled media availability session that he or the team had him bail on. The media was then notified that the session would be re-scheduled.
Two possible reasons could be that either Ben blew off the session or the Sixers withheld Ben from the session because of a possible looming transaction. Nobody knows for sure, thus the speculation.

Given that Ben is scheduled to speak again on Friday probably means there is no trade. Right lol? Also not sure the blame solely lies on Ben. Could have been that nobody had told him, or he just simply forgot.

And how many zoom media days has Tom Moore experienced in his 34 years of covering the team

Maybe, or they kicked the can down the road in case a trade materializes in the next couple of days. If nothing comes about, he speaks on Friday like nothing happened. Maybe nothing ever was going to happen on the trade front and Simmons just blew off the session because he didn't feel like speaking.

If my job was to cover the team, this would annoy me too. But it should be expected after the Fultz debacle.

Not a whiny response at all...this is very peculiar. I'm not in the trade Ben for Harden camp, but would it shock anyone if that's what happens? Any history of a 2 hour delay from Ben or the Sixers before?

If Harden really wants out of the Rox then why would he demand for Wall? But then if my memory serves me right, LeBron asked the Heat to draft Shabazz Napier to replace Chalmers then later opt to sign with the Cavs in the same offseason.
Do you guys feel like Morey is suddenly cuddling Ben on his recent interviews after his presscon where he said like this team is Jojo’s?
Honestly, when i listen to Morey on his recent interviews I’m trying to figure out if he is just bluffing or is he really sincere that he really think of Ben that highly. A part of me believes that he knows Ben is an overvalued asset.
Deep inside me, im asking myself.. does this guy know that the reason Ben has assisted the most threes is because of our pace, our system and how much this team passes the ball rather than him breaking down the defense and getting our 3pt shooters open looks consistently?

Just fyi it’s coddling not cuddling in this case lol.
Was it reported that he demanded for Wall or did the Rockets just make the trade without consulting him because Westbrook wanted out?
I think Morey may think that trading Simmons for Harden is smart but it is selling too low on a huge asset in Simmons and he knows that Bullet is all we have left to compete around Embiid so he is saving it for maximum possible value.
