Possible trade Rose to Boston.

Post#1 » by Drwho17 » Fri Dec 4, 2020 6:11 pm

What about trading Rose to Boston, we can either take a pick back straight up, or take a flyer on a young player like Romeo Langford. They should be able to absorb Rose into their TPE, Kemba Walker is going to be out for a while and their PG depth isn't great anyway.

I do understand dealing Rose but I don’t view Langford as value. Detroit should have dealt him at the draft. I just feel Rose’ value is higher than what Boston would give to use with its TPE.

Boston doesn't have much to offer in the way of picks for 2021and we have a lot of young wings. I'd hold out for another team in need as the season plays out myself. If they did offer their 2021 FRP it would be tempting though, probably in the 20's.

I think the plan is to have Rose in Detroit until the TDL as an on-court/basketball mentor to the youngsters on this team.

Which is weird, because I don't see Rose as a natural fit in the "mentor" role.

While I do firmly believe waiting until the deadline is a recipe for getting nothing for the guy, I'm unconvinced what value he's had at any point. He's put up decent stats and has been fun to watch at times but he's not exactly high impact IMO.

Myers' response to NBC Sports Bay Area's Monte Pool asking him to summarize what Thompson means to the fabric of the organization:

"I talked to somebody today, an opposing coach just called me who I really admire and respect, and called and said 'I'm very sorry about Klay.' And I said I think there's two players in the NBA that everybody likes and respects without a doubt. And I'm going to say the other guy's name. I don't think I'm going to get in trouble I don't think I'll get in trouble but I'll say the other guy's name. I think it's Klay Thompson and Derrick Rose. Those two guys, I think, are universally beloved.

"And how your peers feel about you in life I think says more than anything else. And I really believe that. And I think that [Klay] is admired within. He's admired without. And you can't put in words what he means to our team. What he means to our fans, our coaching staff, his teammates."

Klay has a lot to teach guys about off ball movement, off ball screens, foot work, teamwork. Klay also busted his ass on defense and played an incredibly selfless role. He did shoot a lot but he worked hard running around to get those open looks, most of the time.

What does Drose have to teach young guys? Be really fast. Run at the rim as fast as you can and throw up a shot. Occasionally if the entire defense converged on you, pass the ball to someone.

Drrose is about the opposite of what I hope for in Hayes. Id rather have JJ Barea tutor Hayes on the pick and roll than Drose teach him to put his head down, never look to pass and try to steamroll every possession of the game.

Think players respect DRose because of all he's overcome and his "redemption" the last 2 seasons is a positive, feel good, recent story.

Can't make a trade with Boston. Idiot Danny would want Hayes, Bey, Rose, and our unprotected 1st next year for a 2nd.

I'd really like to see DRose go somewhere where he'll get to play meaningful basketball honestly, couldn't care less what we get in return for him.

With the upcoming onslaught of games a contender will have an injury to a PG. Or multiple injuries.

Derrick Rose will end up going to that place. Please let it be for a first round pick next year.

Rose is a good guy and has been thru a lot. He’s also kinda quiet. I hope he helps Killian along, as he says he will, but their games are extremely dissimilar, so dunno if that will do much.

Trade him, is my opinion.

I really wish we had a thread tor trade proposals by forum members.

Every time I see this thread's title I get my hopes up that a trade has actually occurred...

The Pistons have had problems defending dribble penetration for a long time. The new young squad can definitely get lessons in how to defend it practicing against Rose for a couple months.

After reading about his camp presser I don't think he'll be traded anywhere except Chicago, Milwaukee or Indiana. He wants to stay close to home, which I believe is still Chicago. Now he doesn't have a NMC or anything, but Tellum will make sure he's not done dirty here by being traded to the West Coast or something. If Detroit doesn't re-sign him, or have plans to, I could see him signing with Chicago in the off-season.

Milwaukee doesn't have a FRP as they dealt it to Pellies in Jrue deal. Detroit has gotta hope Chicago is a playoff contender come the TDL and maybe get Satoransky and a protected FRP for Rose or something.

What an oversimplified and disrespectful analysis of Rose’s game. He’s being at the highest points of the game and it’s lowest. I’m sure Hayes could learn a ton from Rose on how to run an NBA offense.

You think players didn’t respect him before then?

I think even half a season with Rose will be very beneficial to the youngsters in the long run. If we had the G League team in town with shared facilities, Saben Lee would benefit greatly from Rose's presence as his game is similar.

I also look forward to watching Rose come into games and light it up. A rare talent still when his minutes are controlled.
