Could go either way. DJ or Forbes. I'd say the biggest thing is they should stagger them. DJ/Forbes good o bad d, they really should rarely play together. So one should start and one of the bench, so they're most often paired with one of the good D guys in Jrue DDV.

After seeing the last two playoffs and what killed us. I'm for trading D for O. In today's NBA you're basically not allowed to play D anyway, As long as the poor individual defender cares and tries enough to fit in with the team scheme it will be fine. Especially with Giannis involved. Someone used MIA as a perfect example, every year they have one or two awful individual defenders peppered in yet have a great team D every year. There's tons of example like this over the years, especially with PGs. PArkers/Spurs off top of my head but you go on and on.

I think we all want Donte to take the next step, because it would be absolutely massive for this team's prospects. I think you need to give him the chance to show that he did or didn't before you plug in Forbes. Confidence is a huge thing in sports, I wonder if putting him in the starting lineup from the jump after him knowing we got rid of him for Bogdanovic gives him a boost.

I'd love to get Gary Trent somehow. Donte+filler for Trent+filler. No way they pay Trent.

4 of the first 5 games away, with a double against the Heat away in there. Guess we're not exactly easing into it.

Little odd that we have two back to backs on the road against both Miami and Cleveland while they've given our opponents a day break in between contests while we host.

Yup, he's what we all dreamed Brown could be. I watch more than my share of Portland and I'd put my money on them paying him a legit contract. They've never been afraid to spend in the past, granted Paul Allen has passed now so who knows how they'll operate from now on. I don't know what he thinks he could get on the market though and i'm not sure either but i don't think they'd hesitate giving 4 for 40-60 mil. Get beyond that and you get into the same issues we had with paying someone like Brogdon. But as a Bucks fan would you want to pay him much more than that when he becomes a FA or keep DDV for rookie money for one more year beyond. I guess if I eventually have to pay one I'd pay Trent as of now, but DDV could easily close that gap or go above. Kid just has to get his 3 pt shot to upper 30s.

Yeah 4/60 is the minimum where I see the contract begins. Not sure if Por can pay Dame, CJ, Nurk, and Roco. Donte gives them a yr of flexibility and could flip him later. If Donte starts first half with no improvement, I think you make the call and see what happens.

Don't forget Melos next contract, lol.

Sure make sense. Definitely kick the tires. But with how well Por is generally managed I think they'll see the value in having a good player signed on that contract and since it's their own guy can go above the penalty because it just allows for trades and things in the future. Basically it lets you operate above the cap. Exactly what our management missed with Brogdon. Also, he'd only overlap with Roco for 1 year. Can flip Covington as an expiring as he isn't young anymore.

If Donte is getting 27-30 minutes per game, I don't think it matters if he's starting or coming off the bench.

For some that may be true, for others, it can certainly matter, so I don't really agree in the general sense. It's easy to sit there and say that because we're not considering the sports psychology of it. Whether this applies to Donte or not, I don't know. I DO know that if I learned I was traded, and then all of a sudden I wasn't because of a tampering gaffe? That'd throw me for a bit of a loop and question certain things.

If Pat or Craig go cold from 3PT range, which they have a tendency to do, then I'd much rather have Forbes out there.

At the very least, when it comes to how OUR roster is constructed, having a defensive liability is MUCH more palpable than having an offensive liability (guy that can't shoot).

Middleton and Pat doesn't even get Houston on the phone.

If Harden wants out so badly and forces the Rockets to trade him, maybe this trade might have a chance.

Middleton's stats looks very good last season, he's younger, an all-star, a model citizen and has a longer and cheaper contract than Harden. He could be of big interest to the Rockets. Pat is a salary-filler to the trade. There is not a single white guy in the Rockets roster, maybe adding Pat might create some local fan interest.

He's a better fit here than Donte. I'd definitely do it. I wanted Trent at 17 that year we picked Donte.

Well, thats the other thing i forgot to mention.

Spurs fans noted that he took a step back in shooting efficiency as a starter and seemed to think it could have been because of the increase in defensive talent that he went up against vs being a reserve. We dont know if thats true but they dont seem to buy in on him as an elite shooter and felt he was streaky and unplayable when not "on."

Either way, feels like there is some big upside with him but im not banking on it.

It is good we are showing Giannis we will pay luxury tax.

And salary slots can be used in different ways.

But after all we’ve done to avoid the tax in previous years it’s pretty funny that we’re diving into it for the privilege of overpaying Pat Connaughton.
