Re: Welcome Tyrese Maxey!
If Shake Milton comes off the bench, and is the 2nd string initiator, then I don't see Maxey getting many minutes this year. Not factoring in Injuries and Covid.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

I agree, the backcourt will most likely be Milton/Thybulle with Furkan, Scott, and of course Dwight. Maxey and some of these other guys will most definitely get their looks at some point during this season. If Milton struggles, it's possible that Maxey takes his job, but I don't think that is going to happen. In fact, quite the opposite. I think Milton is poised to do big things for us this year.

Re: Welcome Tyrese Maxey!
I see Maxey as a creater and Milton as a shooter.
If I project my mindset into what I assume Doc Rivers would see, he would use Maxey like he used Williams and use Milton like he used Shamet.
I can't really envision a scenario where it would make sense to use Milton to initiate the offense, given his inability to score off the dribble.

It's going to be very interesting to see how these draft picks develop. The so called "experts" on this forum have insisted that Maxey can't defend and Reed is nothing but a small ball center...i'm taking notes so lets see who is right in the end

Re: Welcome Tyrese Maxey!
Been watching any and all things Maxey I could find on youtube from Kentucky stuff to AAU circuit stuff and everything in between and from what I've gathered, he has a bunch of tools that in theory mixed together should spit out an awesome scoring guard at the next level.
The one thing that's so odd though is for all of the abundant speed and dynamicism he exudes in the open court, his first step off the dribble is so underwhelming. He's been training like a madman and his body from the Klutch combine looked noticeably thicker from the last time he stepped off the court in Lexington so hopefully it's increased his burst which would help him cut through defenses a lot easier.
Beyond that he's practically a cheat code in transition / advanced sense at attacking angles, and his finishing around the rim is so fun to watch. Also a confident ballhandler that's pretty much press resistant.
So excited for him.

If he can keep up with his work ethic, sky would be the limit. I wont be surprised if he’s a lot better than the last time he played for kentucky.

I have a feeling this kid is going to be special. He has a lot of natural talent, charisma and a superior work ethic. That’s usually a recipe for major success.
always a jump shot away.

Re: Welcome Tyrese Maxey!
Maxey and Simmons need to hang out with Curry 24/7 so they can learn how to shoot like him, Thybulle needs to hang out with green so he can teach him how he’s been so successful with his role and Embiid with Howard so he can be shredded like him haha
Then this team will reach the finals either this year or the next.
I think Maxey cracks the starting lineup by mid season unless Curry becomes an above average defender all of a sudden.

Simmons has to hangout with Dwight because dwight is a bad shooter who tries his best to be a better jump shooter. It also won’t shatter his confidence and makes him feel he has a chance to improve.

I think one of the sick, unfortunate missed opportunities is us no longer having Butler. Butler is a guy who milked a lot out of a career despite limitations (+2 wingspan, mediocre shooter, wasn't thought of as a great creator) due to hard work. He could have really gained something by using him as a mentor much like the physically inferior Herro has.

Think Butler has much to do with Herro? To me he just seems like one of those dudes that's irrationally confident yet has enough talent that it works for him.

Herro was on JJ Redick's podcast this week and he said that as soon as Butler was signed, he reached out and quickly started working out with him.

No doubt he'll eventually be able to hit threes at a respectable clip. 83% free throw shooter, after all.
