But after all we’ve done to avoid the tax in previous years it’s pretty funny that we’re diving into it for the privilege of overpaying Pat Connaughton.

Not just paying it, but starting the repeater clock as well..

Now here's the question: at one point is the payroll considered locked in for lux tax purposes? Could we hypothetically unload some salary and get underneath for the season still? Or is it slready locked in?

I have to believe that Pat's contract is trade filler. There's absolutely no way he and Giannis are THAT close. Its not like its Thanasis. Its a dude Giannis has known for two years.

As long as we’re under by the end of the season, that’s all that matters and it’s definitely possible that we could duck the tax if we wanted to.

If we just wanted a filler contract we could have kept Ersan’s ending deal.

It’s possible the Bucks legitimately want to keep Pat, and there was competition for his services (per Zach Lowe).

Then in addition Horst didn’t realize he needed to offer a 3rd year to make it work so just went ahead with it.

4 of the first 5 games away, with a double against the Heat away in there. Guess we're not exactly easing into it.

And the one homegame is an afternoon game

B for Billionaires. Winning the championship is what matters most for the Bucks billionaires' ego, and they do whatever it takes, even trading away 3 1st rd picks and paying 3 max players.

I bet the Bucks luxury tax will increase a lot next year when they extend Jrue.

Wish the Brewers have a billionaire owner, instead they've an owner who is slashing payroll and more concern about making profits.

B is for Brogdon, who could have been traded for Bogdanovich?

You'd still be severely limited by the hardcap, but you didn't have the picks to acquire Jrue.

It would have been much easier for the Bucks to mostly run it back tinkering around the edges.

We did not do that.

Still think our bench is going to be really strong. We did not get worse in any area imo.

We flipped most of the rotation and the coach two years ago and they figured it out. The new rotation guys are all vets and will have no problem finding their roles. It's not going to be an issue.

I actually am not that high on the veteran bench additions, accept Portis, but the starting lineup is so overpowered that i don't think it'll matter.

Hopefully Nwora, Merrill, and Diakite develop to give us some depth down the road, and also because it would give us some hope for Horst when he's not encumbered by the coach or owners.

Yeah, let's waste another season with Bled so our bench can click 2 weeks sooner

I care about success in the playoffs...the Bucks have plenty of time to figure crap out.

Bolded are the players that played any minutes vs the Heat last year:
Brook/Williams/RoLo
Giannis/Ilyasova/Wilson
Middleton/Pat/Brown/Thanasis
Wes/DDV/Korver
Bled/Hill/Mason

This year's roster, with the players that are basically locks to play in the playoffs against a team like the Heat.
Brook/Portis/Patton/Montgomery
Giannis/Craig/Wilson/Diakite
Middleton/Pat/Nwora/Thanasis
Forbes/DDV/Merrill/Graham/Stauskas
Jrue/Augustin/Adams
The others would need to play well to get into that group. How many of these guys will be usable? I think it will be Nwora and 1 of Merrill/Adams.

Just get a top 4 seed. This regular season is going to be weird. There will be lots of managing loads with such a weird offseason. #1 priority will be keeping Giannis’ ankles in good shape heading into playoffs.

Is a top 4 seed even going to matter with no fans or even a limited amount of fans at the games?

The sky has finally opened up and smiled upon the 8th seed chasers. There will be no real advantage for either team in the playoffs. It will be an AAU tourney again...

I don’t want this to turn in to a “covid optimists vs covid pessimists” but its pretty likely that stadiums will have at least partial capacity by late spring. Vaccines are already being distributed. And if Fiserv has even 6,000 fans in it, it will just seem like a rockin night at the Bradley Center!

Not worried about home court but also don’t want to half ass the regular season too much and play someone tough in the first round.

They dumped all thosetnon playoff guys except thanos for obvious reasons, and Wilson. How the heck did Wilson survive.
