My man Serge sounds genuinely sad to leave us. Looks like some cut throat business took place again.

Raps really dropped the ball on serge... should have traded stanley and or McCaw even if second round picks had to be attached to clear more space...

They will regret losing Serge

Statistically the most significant impact of losing Serge and Gasol will be some headaches trying to defend bigger scorers in the paint. Elsewhere, we improve defending the pick-and-roll and Baynes, Len and Boucher's offensive PPP off pick and rolls are all surprisingly superior to Ibaka on decent volume.

Furthermore, Baynes is an elite screener and charge drawer.

Fun times ahead.

serge when he first joined, didn't like him.
but last 2 years under nurse, liked him on the court, and just as much off the court as he blossomed there as well.
he just felt comfortable/relaxed lately.

Agreed. I got really down today reading Grange article how they only offered him one year. This is an important guy on court and off. Pascal will miss him as a mentor. You should not just throw away a guy like this, who wanted to stay. Only to replace him with lesser guys and hope for the best. Team chemistry is important beyond all the analytical stuff

dropping the ball or just cutting the chord loose?

they had 0 plans to bring him back long term. its not like the Raptors are seriously going for a championship in 2021.

Raptors weren't going to offer a two year deal anyways with player option. so who cares. It was going to 2 years and Team option if anything. Serge ain't having any of that. and Raptors ain't having anything obstruct their 2021 Free Agency plans.

Serge and either Baynes or Len would be better than that pair for 2021. And why not have Serge for another year to pair with Giannis, if that pipe dream ever comes true?

Saying they had 0 plans to bring him back is circular reasoning, like they didn't bring him back because they didn't plan to bring him back. The question is, why? I think they should have offered him the 2 years he got in LA

no, they had to keep the slot open for a max. Serge got a player option which the Raps weren't willing to do. if he opts in we lose the max contract spot/slot.

Yeah, I'm pretty bummed we didn't take a flyer on him this year. He's got a chance to break out this year depending on their situation.

The 3's are great, but he's hard to score on too.

they are playing him at the 5 and he looks much better. still gets lost sometimes but he is legit making it hard for others to score down low
