injury insurance plus keeping his name relevant as Boston does Tatum a solid..
2 things need to go.. my lack of spell check and Joe..

Yes, and it’s really amazing that he continues to bulk up and get bigger as he continually gets younger.
I don’t know if bulking up is the right thing to do for Jayson, especially early in his career. He was a step slower in terms of blowing by or beating up guys off the dribble, compared his first 2 seasons. That would just make him even slower. I guess he’s preparing to playing the 4 full time. He better work on his post up and mid range game some more.

What? He was far better at getting to the hoop last year than the previous two, which is why he got to the line more. And he already plays the four full time, so why would he need to work on post up and mid range? Especially the latter, being a shot everyone has told him to work out of his game.
Literally the only knock people have about him at this point is he still isn’t strong enough to finish at the rim, and that he needs to continue bulking up. Your post is like a bizarro world.

He was better at getting to the hoop, and blowing by guys before the all star break, and after it, but definitely a lot slower at the bubble and the playoffs, when he obviously bulked up and gained weight. Now he looks even bigger, and probably slower. I hope not though. Why would he not work on his mid range game and post up? Like you said, he already plays the 4 full time. He is still average on his post up and fadeaways, which would definitely help him at the 4. He was better at finishing at the rim and getting fouls the previous years. I think he was just cautious to not get injured on a contract year. I expect him to be more aggressive at taking contact this season.

If he was better at getting to the rim and getting fouls the first two years, why did he get to the line far more last year? Especially in the bubble and the playoffs.
And the only time I want to see Tatum taking fadeaways from mid range is if he gets the ball with 3 seconds or less on the shot clock.

Lol! Tatum got a lot of soft fouls in his favor in the bubble and in the playoffs. Not that im complaining. A lot were also bail out fouls, when he was playing out of control at times. I don’t care much abput the final stats and figures, as they are misleading at times. I definitely saw tatum as slower with poorer handles in the bubble.
He could use that fadeaway in the post. He could bang a little before fading away. Just like what Kd does.

Oh okay, he only got to the line more because he was bailed out. Yeah let’s go with the unquantifiable eye test.
And it’s pretty crazy that despite being slower with a weaker handle, he was able to improve his assist rate from 14% during the regular season to 21.3% in the playoffs, despite his turnover rate only going from 10.2 to 11%. I’d say that it’s pretty unlikely that he was able to handle that much more playmaking responsibility despite being slower with worse handles, but I know you don’t believe in stats and figures.

Yeah you got me. I’m old school. Stats and figures are great, but I much rather trust the eye test

WTF is happening here. Tatum might’ve put on one pound. Maybe a pound and a half. Let’s panic and bludgeon each other!

ESPN has Boston 8th in the power rankings. And of course Toronto fans are freaking out over the 10th ranking on the general board.........

Re: Official Celtics 2020-21 Preseason Thread
The Celtics got a lot from Brad Wannamaker and I really liked his toughness. That said, Jeff Teague has the potential to be a huge upgrade if he stays healthy. Teague has a way of making athletic bigs look good so I expect bigger things from RW at start of season with Kemba out and TT limited.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Just basing off one picture, it appears Aaron Nesmith has exclusive membership in the Semi Ojeleye Factory. I hope he doesn't overdo it.

Based on that one picture, Nesmith looks like he came into camp in shape.
Looks like he's stronger and thinner than he was in college.
