Re: Welcome to Charlotte : Khalil Whitney
Lots of threes and dunks in those videos, it looks like he'll fit right in. It's a highlight video, so not necessarily an accurate sample, but he looked active when the ball isn't in his hands which is always good to see.
His shooting form reminds me a little bit of Klay Thompson (mainly the way his body straightens up as he rises), but he doesn't have as lightning-quick a release.

We seem to sign good prospects who are older, or young prospects who arent proven yet lol. I like this signing tho.
I think he only averaged around 3 pts but I think due to probably being on UK's bench. He was a 5 star recruit. So it's worth the signing. And he's only 19. I thought he went back to school next thing I see we signed him.

He got an exhibit 10 deal, so yeah pretty much a training camp and maybe Greensboro signing.

Re: Welcome to Charlotte : Khalil Whitney
It was smart for us to bring him in because although the talent isn't obvious *yet* he was a 5 star recruit at UK. Maybe he can develop and wouldn't it be great if he did so and we stole him away.
Our franchise is in good hands because when Kupchak does mess up (which is rare) he makes up for it by signing guys like these who often product.

Re: Welcome to Charlotte : Khalil Whitney
Going down a youtube hole today and stumbled onto a "where are they now?" video of the 20 guys ranked over LaMelo in his recruiting class.
Surprised to see Whitney at 12 (Carey was 6). Didn't realize he was one-and-done after a pretty bad year at Kentucky. Maybe some of that potential is still there.

Yeah he was ranked high. I like Keandre Cook more but to me this was a smart signing because i'm guessing he got chosen over someone else and sat his first year. So he never really got a shot. I didn't see much I like in his videos but still smart because maybe there is potential there.

Re: Welcome to Charlotte : Khalil Whitney
If I am not mistaken I could have sworn I saw his name as a projected lottery pick somewhere. I also had him ranked as a player I was interested in. I posted him once in the thread then backed off. In a sense the HORNETS signed two of my players in Whitney and Keandre so I am happy. I guess I can count Whitney as another HORNET signing for UNCNYC lmao

You probably did. Number 12 recruit goes to Kentucky and clearly saw himself as the next great one-and-done Wildcat. I just wasn't aware he ever had this top prospect equity.
It's worth noting, with an open roster spot, Mitch pulled some never-before-seen chicanery last season by converting Exhibit 10s into 2-ways and then into multi-year contracts. If he impresses enough, we could see something similar this year.

I hope so. With Covid both could provide good insurance. I think we did good with our 2-ways and exhibit 10's. Mitch LOVES underdogs like me haha.

He made the preseason squad

also these are their salaries

I love every player on our preseason squad. I have always wanted Delaurier and I have been a fan of Xavier Sneed and considered Kahlil. I never knew about Darling but the name sounds like we can bring in some chicks so I am all in. I am not feeling the Jersey number for Keandre tho.
I love the 5 for Kahlil. I love the 12 for Javin and 21 for Sneed but not wild about 31 for Kahlil.
