Sure, on the surface you really can't argue about the trade.

The protections on the pick are great for once, and Westbrook is on a different tier than Wall.

Westbrook is a legitimate superstar, but as a Wizards fan, what's in the back of my mind is Westbrook slipping on a banana peel and missing 3/4s of the season and never being the same after he comes back.

I dont think Houston wants a Simmons/Wall backcourt.

Yeah, there's a dilemma there. If John's improved 3 is for real, they could meld well together, but without actually seeing his 3 in game situations, it'd be hard to commit to a Wall/Simmons combo.

Houston is going to make that trade because it's the best return they're going to get in a Harden deal. Whether or not Simmons is compatible with Wall is irrelevant. Wall isn't part of their future.

I think Houston is trying to see if they can extract any more out of Philly other than just Simmons. I'm not sure that they will. I don't think anyone else can offer a better deal. I'd rather have Simmons than the Brooklyn package of LaVert, Allen, Dimwiddie and a couple of late picks. LaVert is kind of expensive, Allen is about to get paid as a free agent, and Dimwiddie is expiring. Who else is at the table? Denver with Gary Harris and MPJ?

Wall would be a big part of their next 3 years - you can't just poopoo that, imo. While I agree that it's hard to find a better package right now, I think Houston would at least wait till the trade deadline if Simmons is their best option.

A Harden for Simmons trade would create the same problem for Houston that a Beal for Simmons trade would have created for the Zards.

The Rockets would have two players (Wall & Simmons) who are lousy shooters and who both need the ball in their hands to be effective.

What up barely! Plucked this from the rankings thread to add to the Westbrook trade discussion.

I think this is a good point, and one I don't think we've talked about much. We've been mulling over what we can expect from Westbrook over the next 2-3 years, but him turning the clock back for even 1 season could change things dramatically. Not saying we'd suddenly become the top destination for somebody like Giannis, but with other dominos likely to fall we could be in the running to improve even more next year.

In other words, our chances of landing a third star are much better as a .500-or-above playoff team with Beal and a rejuvenated Westbrook (if perhaps only seemingly) than as a sub-.500 team with Wall+Beal that doesn't make the playoffs. Could be we need to see what happens next summer before passing final judgement on this deal.

Acquiring stars via free agency is a sucker's bet, unless you are an elite destination team like LA, Boston, Miami, Golden State or (someday) New York. Teams like Washington land second-tier stars on max contracts who are actually negative values. We wouldn't get Giannis. We would get the next Kemba Walker.

The difference between Wall and Westbrook is Wall still attacks the rim at high volume, Westbrook completely stopped. Wall is also faster, but I think Wall was always faster. Westbrook had the edge vertically but neither are very vertical now.

Wall blocks shots often.

Just one game, but Wall looks like his 2016-2017 version tonight.

Of course it would be #SoWizards to trade away a player coming off a devastating injury for a perennial MVP candidate and HOF shoo in and somehow lose the trade

Clutch fans have been laughing at us for a long time. Don't understand why fans on here and Twitter doubted the opinions of fans who watched him for a whole year. Especially a guy who is a year older and worse than last year.
