I don’t know about very good chance but an option that has been floated that I heard was Odorizzi or Kluber with JT and springer.

it sounds like 2 of the 3 is an ideal situation.

I'm not sure trusting either Stroman or Noah as a #2 in a big game is a thing I would be comfortable with. Odorizzi is more of a 3 or 4 type guy.

But having both JT and Springer I wouldn't pass up but I would probably prefer Bauer and Springer with a defensive catcher.

But beggers can't be choosers. Just think in any series if the mets are throwing Degrom and Bauer back to back they would be really tough to beat.

I guess signing JT actually does make more sense than usual, and its a very "gtfo im here" kinda message because it directly makes your opponent weaker.

but net on net in terms of performance and added wins, I think Bauer would net the mets more wins given that the starting rotation seems a lot weaker than the offense rn.

What other offers does Realmuto have anyhow? I'm not reading any reports of other teams beating down his door trying to sign him. Maybe his agent is pricing him out of the market particularly in another possible COVID-impacted season. I think there may be some gamesmanship going on here by both sides. But if JT really doesn't want to come here and be a part of this lineup and pitching staff, then F him.

I think it's a good deal as long as it leads to someone bigger. It will be a bridge to our top prospect (if he continues his trend). I would not want to pay a catcher for that many years and no DH in NL in sight.

Exactly! I'm hoping the Mets use the free agent market to plug in short-term fixes unless it's a superstar. I see the catcher position as a short term fix (4 or less years) until a prospect comes up (if all goes right).

When I look at CF, there's really no one waiting in the wings except for Crow-Armstrong who is probably 4-5 years away. By then, Springer would have to move to the corner outfield.

As for pitching, always need a bundle of them and we just don't have that depth right now. It was simple to QA Stroman and tender Matz. I'm all for signing Bauer and a workhorse like Tanaka.

My FA wishlist:
1. Bauer
2. Springer

That's it. I don't see that many holes for the Mets. Because we don't have the DH rule next year... maybe we can do without Springer and sign Jackie Bradley Jr? Go all in on Bauer and Tanaka?

70% production of JT with 25% of the cost = right decision



we still need at least 1 SP.
