this is easy.
Invite him to Training camp.
NO comittment.

HAve him play a bit 5 on 5.

He is ok? sign.

he is not? sign 10 day for retiring on the staples , maybe retire the number the same day and offer him a spot in the organizacion where he fits.

Do we have a roster spot? I don't care if he can't play a single minute; I would be ecstatic to have him here to finish his career as a laker in any form or situation. To have him here and to play with his brother is gravy. To have him here at a time where we are contenders and where his experience as a back to back champ could have a tremendous impact is the cherry on top.

Again, if we brought back Dudley and Cook for chemistry/non basketball reasons, I don't see why we can't bring back Pau. But yeah, worst case he really can't contribute in any shape or form and we have a better alternative and we need a roster spot; You allow him to retire as a Laker and give him a spot on the coaching staff/organization, waive him and get your roster spot back.

Chemistry and leadership is critical for a back to back championship imo. We aren't lacking any chemistry or lacking any leadership, but this is something you can never have enough of in a team trying to win back to back.
