I see folks talking about him being a "small ball centre" or a "back-up big"..i totally disagree. Imo the kid could be our Siakam moving forward...a really good PF with all the skills in his arsenal to go far. Compare his collage tape to Siakam's and it's crazy how much better Reed looked..but the only way he will have a chance to do well is by grinding hard im that gym. I've got a feeling him, Maxey and Joe will ALL surprise us this season tbh.

Ideally he's our primary backup big by next season.

Reed has a little college David West to his game. Reed can dribble, but probably shouldn't right now. If he were more disciplined and under controll, I could easily see him playing a David West kind of role.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

Reading comments, it seems like he is a lottery talent or smth. Why did he fall to the end of the Draft?

His ballhandling is actually what stood out to me the most. You're right that he tries too much and needs to reign in it but he clearly has decent dribbling ability compared to a lot of the guys we've seen. Like not even Nerlens slapping the ball while bent over at the waist like a grandmother but he probably can dribble better than Covington.

Yeah, he can dribble, but he gets himself into trouble sometimes like Jeremi Grant used to. He dribbles in too far and then commits a turnover or forces a wild shot. They need to coach that out of him.

Grant is actually who I was thinking of when watching him. Hopefully he learns quicker than Jerami that some of the stuff he barely got away with in college is never going to work in the pros. Reed has to forget the idea that he's going to be breaking people down off the dribble on the wing but his dribbling skills will become really important and useful for driving past guys on a wild closeout at the three point line (which Covington still can't do well because he has zero dribble).

It's hard to not be excited about this pick. He already has a useful skill with his defense and definitely has a shot to develop into a useful offensive piece as well. Certainly more upside at the back of the draft than someone like Shayock.

Do you really have confidence that form can translate into a reliable pick and pop game like West had. That was his bread and butter if I'm remembering correctly.

Paul Reed's dribbling at DePaul was basically out of necessity because the only player on the team that could handle the ball was Charlie Moore. Reed very rarely attempted to score off the dribble, he was moreso doing so just to advance the ball positioning. I don't think we'll see Reed attempt to handle the ball at the NBA level. Definitely not during his rookie contract.

I think his offense will mainly consistent of screen and pop or screen and roll. Eventually, he may extend his shot out to the three point range. Don't see much wing potential, offensively, with him. Pure PF/C.

Is it just the angle or is Tobias like 2-3 inches taller than Paul Reed?

I see the same thing you see. It's very confusing. Paul Reed measured 6'8.5 barefoot. Last year Tobias was measured at 6'7 barefoot.

Doesn't matter. I don't see Reed as a Center long term anyway. He guards in space, better than in the post anyway.

Wow all three of the guys we drafted are undersized.

He's a little lean, but 220 at 6'9" is pretty decent mass. Like Lloyd said, he'll likely be guarding SF/PF early in his career.

Paul Reed played Center the last few minutes of the Pacers game. Goga Bitadze is 6'11.
He's robably about 6'8, with ridiculously long arms.

His stats say he's 6'10 and that's what i'm going with until someone proves otherwise. No point making futile guesses. The kid is a PF with tons of potential and that's all that matters at the end of the day.

What is the difference between 6'8, 6'9, or 6'10? You don't guard an opposing player using the top of your head. Wingspan is more important.

He’s 6’9 with shoes; they just measured him for the combine.

He's got thin shoulder width so I'm guessing 235 is his sweet spot for the weight he should strive for. Not big enough to play C, but decent modern PF size.
