What a steal in the draft, and him learning off of Lowry and Fred will just be amazing for his development.

Anyone else a wee bit concerned he couldn’t seem to get any dribble penetration?

Well he will have issues finishing, but he did have a nice dribble penetration dump off and a nice drive and quick.

I'm sure Flynn will have some rookie calls but his defense looked great out there. He missed a layup and FTs out there but it was probably just nerves, he really settled in. He looks average sized for a PG, bigger than I expected he's just going to need to gain strength.

I liked the way that Flynn hung with Rozier even through his initial move and counter along the baseline. Rozier is one of the quicker guards in the league, so impressive for Flynn to stick with a lead guard.

It's preseason though and Rozier will have his headlights up next time that Flynn is on the floor against him.

FVV struggles so bad without lowry. That first quarter was atrocious. driving into the lane and getting blocked by the rim / players as usual

Mark my words, flynn will supplant FVV soon enough. He is just as good of a shooter and will get better, He is quicker and got tighter handles than FVV.

My hope is that malachi explodes in impact and Fvv will be traded midseason for assets With lowry sticking around. Harris hopefully has more Pt monday to show his stuff. I look forward to his first jaw dropping dunk.

I had some flickering candle of hope for stanley but man did this guy not work on his shot all this time. He missed every single shot he took. Yuta watanabe should take his spot.

Paul Watson is the next gem
Ellenson is too slow (maybe if he lost weight and worked on his foot speed. Maybe. Maybe he should train as a sprinter to work on that burst speed)

His Jump shot reminds me of Austin Rivers.

Only one preseason game but eye test says he is top 10 rotation guy for us. Maybe gets some small run in playoffs depending on matchups

Damn all the Flynn haters disappeared but they’ll be back. I’m not going to come on here and act like I was blown away by the pick but that was simply because I didn’t know much about the guy. There were some people on here that were talking about “terrible pick” “fire Masai” ect

Ellenson is emergency 4th C like Dewan.

Watson putting in the effort on defense, playing big looking like he can play SF.

How can anyone hate on a conference POY and DPOY?

Flynn plays almost like a 6'3 player, he is a legit 6'2 as at times I had to double take between him and Matt Thomas. Both 3 for 6 from deep. :D

He might've just been a little passive in his first game. He's a terrific defender though.

He's looking to win, not get blocked at the rim (though he missed a layup lol). Zero turnovers with 4 assists are good enough for me.

He made winning plays as evidenced by his whopping +35.

I watched a lot of his college highlights once we drafted him, but the thing that I saw last night that I didn't notice in his highlights was his speed! That boy is quick! He really seems like he has it all to be a pure PG in today's league. I'm glad the Raptors have such a competent organization from top to bottom.

So the rookie is composed and Rozier will target Flynn?

it was a weakness of his in college too, couldn't really get to the rim there either. He was a good finisher when he did though. Its why i didn't love the pick because that's still a big weakness of this team.

Aren't people jumping the gun a little? It's a preseason game (not to mention the 1st) against a lottery team. Plenty of players have shown promise or look good from the PG position and it doesn't always pan out.

he's 29th pick I'm just hoping he's a good role player. And hitting shots from 3 and playing defense is perfect for now

He had maybe one highlight type of play in the entire game. We're excited about his defense, his ability to control the pace of the game, and his ability to make smart reads. The shot and his ability to drive seem to be pretty good and those are things that will get better as he gets more comfortable. He already plays with the poise of a vet, and it's fairly apparent to a lot of us that he has a strong foundation to build on. We're not excited because of a crazy pass or a monstrous dunk.
