I paid for one month of NBA TV to see the game on there.

DJJr would have been a near ideal fit.

Is Talen Horton-Tucker the real deal?

Hype train in full effect in Charlotte lol. They are smashing the Raptors and every pass Lamelo makes is making the commentators gush. He is fast out there.

To be fair, he look good. Without forcing anything...

He was solid but nothing wowed me, that said it was just a few minutes. I was never a believer but I', excited to see what I was missing. He is fast and those passes were nice. He also grabbed some boards which is big IMO.

Lamello 0-5. This is what I was afraid of. He is rebounding like crazy but I don't think the dude can score, much like his brother (Who has gotten better).

For the first time since Bernard King was ballin' for the Bullets, I watched a Washington game last night to check in on my man crush. He didn't disappoint. 6-6 from the field, including 3-3 from three. Four boards, 2 dimes, and super impressive feel. All against the Nets' starters and key rotation pieces (not mop up minutes). I'd say he's already third best player on the Wiz (and would be for the Wolves too). Probably doesn't have the ceiling that Edwards does, but he's got a damn impressive floor. Clearly I can say this definitively after watching only one preseason game.

I was shocked to find out Layden was still with team.

I really thought I remembered a day at the end of the first Ryan partial season, that summer they parted ways when Rosas was making changes. Maybe it was just rumors then.

There was a reshuffling of his responsibilities then, he was basically a glorified scout last year though he technically still had the GM title.

Deni looked really good. If the shot drops like it did that first game, he’s a high level starter in the NBA.

My draft board went Wiseman, Okongwu, Deni, Edwards in that order. I won't be surprised at all if Deni takes the NBA by storm.

Passed on so many because all we could look at was the top3 hyped like it's a law or something. Edwards better turn into a monster at the net at some point or I'lll likely be frowning on this draft for years. Although I didn't expect much from Poku and it's a little too early to make claims off a preseason game. Last year Graham looked like a scoring stud in preseason. Deni is the tough one to pass on if he turns out well. I liked how verbal he was predraft for an international player. I thought that might have a positive impact with successful communications early on. His 3s were all wide open though in the preseason. At least he swished them. Saw Toppin, even saw Bane in our first game. Looking forward yet to Haliburton' Vassell Nesmith yet. Anyone see that Maxey kid play yet? Many here liked him. Are we going to hear that last name 20 times a game?

Since we are each looking at what we'd have preferred from the draft, I offer the following: I would have preferred a trade back/trade up to grab 4 (Williams)/6 (Avdija). I think such a path if available was "safer" for the Wolves - more predictable, with a known floor, and a known - and limited - ceiling. And I voted to pick up Wiseman if we stayed put at 1. I think his talent will make him a defensive force at a minimum. I was never a Ball fan (go look at his turnovers and 3 point shots from last night).

But.....

I'm at peace with Edwards. And this is specifically why:
ESPN2 included some of Anthony Edwards’ P3 data during his televised pro day in October. The accelerative and decelerative force of Edwards, a possible No. 1 pick, ranked in the 99th and 98th percentiles, respectively. Like Dončić, Edwards also drew physical comparisons to Harden.

https://sporttechie.com/evaluating-nba-draft-talent-scouting-technology-data

This type of athleticism is unique. It comes around rarely. It allows it's owner to move to/get to places that others simply cannot get to in the same time. It allows him to stop in one step where it takes others 2-3 steps to stop. It is a foundation that allows for unique greatness. BUT it is NOT a remedy for all basketball-related challenges, especially decision-making related ones. And improving in those other, non-physical areas takes time, a strong instructor, and a willingness to commit to improvement. He's 19. I am comfortable giving him the time to develop those non-physical skills because if/when he does, he will be frighteningly unique.

I'm happy with taking Edwards at 1. I really wanted to trade down, get someone like Avdja or Okoro even but Edwards has some serious potential and we need a home run, I think its a worthy gamble.

And a collective sigh of relief went out through Milwaukee.

In all honesty, I am glad to see a smaller market able to retain its star -- doesn't mean he won't demand a trade in the future.

Not sure why some have fretted over not having cap space coming up?
