Re: Around the MLB 2019
MLB's free agency has become a joke. Once it opens, hype it up for a week only for there to be zero transactions. Then come January, in the middle of basketball and hockey season, when everyones attention is elsewhere the big names start signing. Ho hum. At this point I could give 2 **** who the Jays are interested in... They're in on everyone, these hot stove tweets are meaningles at this point.

I think the lack of MLB revenue during 2020 has led to a huge gap between what the players think they’re worth and what teams are willing to pay. So everyone is waiting of the 1st major domino to fall which will set the price point.

Blake Snell heading to the Padres for prospects. That's one possible trade target out, but also out of the American League.

Patino is #3 on the Padres' MLB Pipeline top 30. Wilcox is #7. Both are RHPs. Mejia is a 25 year old backup catcher for the Padres.

Re: Around the MLB 2019
Mejia was a top prospect not too long ago, and the Rays have a solid history of resurrecting those.
Even if they're in our division, it does suck seeing a team get to the WS on a shoestring budget only to have to dismantle the roster immediately. Which isn't a defense of their ownership so much as an indictment of MLB: simply put, if this is necessary, the Rays need to be relocated. It's an utterly ridiculous situation and the extraordinary efforts of their past two GMs only serves to highlight that, because if a team that has been so successful with a nothing budget cannot be financially viable in Tampa, then no team can. Move them already.

Re: Around the MLB 2019
Rays will Ray.
The formula remains the same.
(there's really no where to go: Portland? Montreal? Charlotte, Vegas??? It's all stupid). MLB should just contract. Use Covid as your excuse).
If you must move though,,, Mexico City is perhaps the first choice.... Good luck with that!!

Re: Around the MLB 2019
From the standpoint of population, in Canada/the US, Montreal is the largest metro area without an MLB team. Unless you include the Inland Empire, which offers the possibility of the Temecula Rays, and Temecula Ray sounds like a guy who sells knockoff Beats headphones out of the back of a decaying Oldsmobile, so I approve. After Montreal, it'd be Vancouver, followed by Charlotte and Portland with Mtl significantly larger than the other three.
And oh man, if baseball in Denver results in silly numbers, you'd have to think that Mexico City would be absolutely hilarious. Though oddly the Diablos Rojos of Mexico City seem to have some of the lowest HR totals in the league last year, go figure.

Re: Around the MLB 2019
That's...unexpected. The Padres have Tatis at SS, Machado at 3B, and the ROY runner-up in Jake Cronenworth at 2B. Cronenworth can move around, as can Kim, but I'm not sure where exactly they can move to.

**** your asterisk.
