Re: Bucks News, Trade Ideas, Transactions
The disdain for James Harden is clouding people's judgement. He'll probably end up as one of the greatest scorers in the history of basketball and the series versus the Lakers actually was quite close until the Rockets imploded.
Keep in mind any trade would have to involve a 'terrible contract', a 'defensive liability' and 'the worst starting SG in the NBA' (mind you not my view on all these) we should be pushing really hard to make things work.
Ultimately we'd need to find a third team willing to add value for Brook but as long as buyers aren't outbidding another we have a competitive offer.

I remain flummoxed at how quickly this board can turn on guys that have played two preseason games. I'm seeing a lot of shade being thrown at Portis, Forbes and Augustin already. Those guys combined for 29 points on 12 shots last night. That's amazing efficiency! Give the guys a chance. The entire roster (starters included) were torched by both Dallas's starters and their bench. This is a bad matchup for the Bucks and, more importantly, Bud. Carlisle is another one of those coaches who's clearly two steps ahead of Bud.
Now, if you want to talk about Conny, that's fine. We have two years of evidence indicating who he is on this team: a vet minimum player. Shockingly, someone felt he was worth more than double that. While not the same contract, it's similar to the Plumlee contract in that it was obvious from the second it was signed that it was a bad contract.
It has nothing to do with his preseason performance. He's simply a terrible defender, and Merrill can do what Forbes does.
I hope Merrill turns into something as much as anyone, but to assume he can both shoot 40% from 3 against NBA competition while defending NBA athletes, all based on 11 minutes of garbage time preseason basketball, is a step too far for me.

This. And the fact that the last three seasons or so have really soured people's opinion of him. But even before he was chucking up 13 threes a game and just making a mockery out of basketball, he was one of the most impactful players and scorers in the league and was doing it in a much more "reasonable" way.

Nwora might already be better than Craig but that lineup looks good!
Jrue/Harden/Giannis with any two others players to ever play in the NBA would be a great lineup. Pair them with Mark Madsen and Dan Gadzuric and its still a great lineup. Pair them with post-hip IT and post contract Salmons and it's still a great lineup.
Salmons deserves better !! I remember the night we traded for him at the deadline like yesterday. Oh how the years go by
Pre contract FTD Salmons played like Jordan for a couple months. Post contract Salmons played like Vaughn and was a negative asset when traded.

Now that HE stay
Do Bucks stay pat with the roster?
Do they trade for a better bench wing?
Do they trade for Harden?

Today I find myself wondering what we could get for Khris.

Does Giannis signing the extension generally break open some other moves across the league?

Definitely.
Miami just got to the finals and instead of upgrading team in off-season they just made moves to sign guys to be cut or be used as filler in trade for Giannis.
A team like that probably now makes a run at Harden.

Maybe if his name was Denise instead of Dennis.

Always been open-minded about trading Khris despite defending him against the unreasonable detractors. That said, I think you have to give Khris/Jrue/Giannis a chance in the playoffs. Absolutely have to. They're all theoretically so complementary to each other that they could be the best Big 3 in the league.
I am more worried about Brook and DDV. Brook looks unbearably slow this year, and his post scoring is kind of wasted with the paint being Giannis's domain. He prevents them from making adjustments on defense and his 3-point shooting seems pretty overrated. I like DDV but he's a terrible fit in the starting lineup IMO. If those two could fetch a player who's better than either one of them, that would be nice.

Brook makes no sense on this team. I know it's easy to delude yourself that he's a floor spacer, but he's not. In the modern NBA there's no reason Giannis shouldn't be the starting center. Fixes so many issues by just pushing another shooter into the starting lineup.

I really don't think that there are that many landing spots. I had New Orleans as a likely destination pre Adams and Golden State pre Oubre (TPE). Boston is somewhat a possible destination but they have TT and not that many contracts to match. Chicago makes some sense if they're trying to win. Charlotte may want to upgrade Zeller. Maybe the Wizzards for some Lomance. Dallas? Kings?
We need a team that values his production and is willing to trade draft capital or a promising player.

Brook would suit a team with a strong rebounding PG. Maybe Wizards or Hornets? Both teams would like DDV too. Maybe they have an asset or two for Bucks

The Bucks will lose again if Bud doesn't change and there is no reason to believe he will fundamentally change his offense and defense during the playoffs. His offense revolves around Giannis having the ball, which negates Holiday's play making ability. Get a coach who knows how to play a helping man defense (as opposed to dropping down), a switching man defense and some zone. Have a coach who knows how to post up Jhrue, Giannis, Brook and Khris. And a coach that can have his guards move, like miami, instead of standing in one spot. This has nothing to do with the talent on the team now. It's getting a coach that can compete in the playoffs.
Bud is not a playoff coach. Get him out now.
