A few guys on that list are only top 25 when they have the ball in their hands (Booker, Beal, Mitchell, Irving, KAT, Westbrook, Young) and their overall impact is not legit top 25 when accounting for the fact they give some to a lot of it back on defense. I'd much rather have Jrue's two way impact over most of those type of players. Especially when pairing him with a couple ball dominant guys in Giannis and Middleton. (Not at all saying Jrue is a better asset than anyone listed, but he appears to me to be a better fit than almost anyone who isn't in the top 15 of that list)

Also, you listed Lowry in the top 20 and in the still on the board category. He's good but he's not two spots in the top 25 good.

My mistake on Lowry. Fixed it.

With that being said, fit vs. legitimate top 25 player, those are two separate arguments. I, personally, would take a guy like Beal over Holiday without giving a second thought to it. We've all seen Middleton's warts when it comes to ball dominance, and I think most would agree, that he's not the entirety of the answer when it comes to playoff time, so I guess I wouldn't consider Middleton's fit when it comes to adding another ball dominant player, given Middleton is more than capable of playing off the ball as well.

I think we need a third team but I feel like Lopez and DDV going out and Myles Turner coming in would be a good base of a deal, though I think we would need a third team and probably another couple of small pieces in there.

MKE IN: Turner, Justin James
MKE OUT: Lopez, DJW, DDV

SAC IN: Lopez, DJW
SAC OUT: Parker, Justin James, Holmes

IND IN: Holmes, Parker, DDV
IND OUT: Turner

1) We didn’t give up all those assets for Jrue, just to let him walk. We’ve likely got a 3/$100 extension lined up. Hopefully not worse (higher) than that, but he’s here long term.

2) Letting Jrue walk buys us zero cap room. We will be over the cap regardless.

Why do I still feel that Schroder, Bobo, Mids, Giannis, Brooks would've been a better starting 5? Especially knowing that the Bucks signed Jrue without a commitment from Giannis.

I think they could actually be a little under the cap if Jrue walks and some guys don't pick up their options, but it's nowhere near enough to justify losing Jrue.

Regarding your extension numbers, I remember spending the whole spring and summer of 2019 telling myself that Khris was worth 4/$100m and the Bucks should start there, but I would understand if they had to go up to 4/$120m or so.

In other words, the only question for me at this point is whether the Bucks offer a regular open-market 4-year max, or a Bird Rights 5-year max with slightly bigger raises each year. Jrue might have to wait until summer to get the latter though, as I don't think they can add 5 years to a contract that technically isn't guaranteed to end this summer (Jrue could opt in).

I'm more concerned with Bud figuring out a way to utilize Jrue correctly - with sets to maximize his partnerships with Middleton and Giannis - instead of treating him like George Hill and having him just hang around the three point line.

Same. Obviously it's preseason but the early signs aren't that anything new is being done on the O side to get more movement and ball screens. It was pointless to pay a king's ransom for the guy if he's just going to stand and watch Giannis.

Brook was the anchor of our defensive system which ranked #1 in the league the past two seasons. He's not here for his offense.

Who is the next Brad Stevens , Nick nurse..? We need that guy as assistant coach to suggest adjustments and eventually take over as head coach.

Great point. Our $30mm a year PG needs to run the offense, not Giannis. But last night we got our usual dose of Giannis bringing the ball up.

Giannis can be Shaq or even Wilt in the post. Use him that way.

We're probably sending the 3 most valueable players out here imo. Moving Lopez for the sake of moving Lopez seems like a bad idea.

Devonte Graham is the best player in the package. Zeller is 4th, Carey 6th

Oh I for some reason thought of Treveon Graham. My bad. Wrong Graham. I mean that can happen... Right? Like the wrong Brook...

No problem.

I see Jrue as an SG or combo guard at best. He needs to be paired with another combo guar dor lead guard still IMO.

So I'd be looking to target teams with too many decent guards.

How crazy of a take is this? I'm wondering if it would've been better to have mason as the backup pg than DJA? I know DJA is still getting his feet wet

It really wouldn't surprise me if Frank could do this job. However, as a title contending team you can't blame them or really disagree with them for going with a proven vet.

Wish they had a full training camp and preseason to work on this, as it's probably going to take a couple months of tinkering and practice to get the right flow going offensively. What we saw the last two games was positively garbage at times, looking like a group of guys at your local Y playing a pick up game for the first time together.

First congrats on your team gettng Giannis to sign. I wasn't sure he would. You guys seemed fairly sure. Good on you.

Second, this is an interesting problem to me that you are discussing. As currently my team has two PGs we want to start and a #1 overall kid who wants to bring the ball up and lead to. So far in preseason it looks like a mess for my team as they try to figure out who's going to be that guy.

So at least you are only trying to figure it out between two players. or is their a third for you as well?
Maybe they can just switch off all game long and it presents two ways of playing your opponents must be ready for.

I actually prefer this lineup:

Augustin, Jrue, Middleton, Giannis, BroLo
Mason, DDV, Connaughton, Wilson, Portis

Prefer Jrue as an SG, prefer DDV on the bench, prefer not to play Forbes.

I still think we’ve maxed out with Bud as a coach and Brook as a center.

I don’t know if any coaches that are available would be a better choice and I’m sure Bud gets the benefit of the doubt and continues, while we all hope and pray he becomes less stubborn.

Do we think Brook+someone gets us a decent return?

I think whoever posted we have too many specialists, and not enough two way players had something. If we're not utilizing their strengths then it's going to be a double negative. Also we gave up a lot of size, especially with our guards. The play will get better for sure with more time together. Hopefully it'll improve enough, and the FO can pull a trade, or two out their ass somehow.

I think we need someone like Lopez for matchups, but just not as a starter. He's probably making too much money to sit on the bench. If we could trade him, who's out there that could take his role at a much reduced rate? I guess we could've signed his brother and traded him.

Hypothetically, if we would have resigned Brogdon could we have still had the same off-season moves with him on the payroll?

Cause with Bled gone he could have moved to PG, and a lineup of Brogdon/Jrue/Midds/Giannis/Brook would have been insane
