With greater injury risk, not a good thing by any stretch of the imagination.

He can get "rest" during blowouts. And I'm not talking mid-40's or anything like that. 35-38 nightly. I don't want Bud to somehow rationalize that "because Giannis only played 30 minutes in the regular season he can only play a couple more in the playoffs." Thats ridiculous. Its go time.

I can see both sides when talking about minutes for players. I think Bud kind of got screwed last year with the bubble. Managing minutes would've helped over 82 games and the guys would've been fresher for the playoffs versus other teams. LeBron at his age really lucked out with a shorten season and months to rest, I think we definitely would've had an edge in the playoffs during a "regular season". On the flipside you need to play the guys more minutes in the Reg season so they can prep their bodies for the playoffs. There is definitely merits to getting your body use to long minutes, it's hard to just flip the switch. Part of me wonders if he limits Giannis minutes because of how hard Giannis goes. Basically he uses Giannis at max capacity during the minutes he's out there, then gets him more rest. If Giannis can pick and choose his spots, might be better. regardless, It's not just Giannis, but other players as well. Bud definitely needs to change his ways.

I am not broken up about having DDV instead of Bogdan, but I won't forget the league scaring everyone away from the deal and threatening the Bucks for (by most accounts) conducting normal business. I'm not sure what the league's actual goal was, because Giannis might have just saved the supermax as we know it, but what a **** monkey wrench that was. The fallout could have been franchise killing. Glad the team cobbled together a functional off-season, glad Woj has been frozen out, and of course, glad Giannis is staying.

I hope Giannis' move puts heat on the legacy's of Lebron, Kawhi, AD, KD and all the other stars who left the franchise's that developed them for easier paths to championships if not just fancier lifestyles.

The Bucks will need to win 1 ring at least and maybe even more than that before it holds longer term salience.

Sports media if not the league at large have all become stacked against superstars staying with small market teams since The Decision. However that is not how the NBA has always been structured, and the narrative of this era of NBA history will hopefully reflect this change.

Specifically:

Lebron is chasing MJ's ghost in the hopes of winning a comparable amount of rings so he can ultimately be deemed the best ever. But MJ did it with his own team despite an owner and GM who cheaped out at times and made problematic decisions (including pissing off Scottie Pippen of all players).

Kawhi bailed on Popovich because he wants to load manage more, won a ring in Toronto, and then bailed yet again for LA when on reflection he would have had a way easier path to repeat with the Raptors.

KD made what will go down as the weakest and laziest move a superstar has ever did just to add some chips to his portfolio.

AD upped the ante insofar as tampering by the Lakers as well as the unprecedented situation of a player like Lebron controlling a sports agency through Klutch. Quite a contrast with how Bogdan deals from the Bucks get harshly policed too.

Giannis is about to go on a Jordan-esque run. I see 6 rings in the next 6 years.

Reading The Athletic article excerpt on Bogdan more closely, and wondering if this might be shade on Woj:

The NBA launched a tampering investigation into the ordeal, in large part, because news of an alleged agreement had leaked via a news outlet nearly five days before the formal start of free agency.

https://theathletic.com/2263457/2020/12/15/giannis-antetokounmpo-largest-contract-in-nba-history/

Shaffty and other posters who have connects within the team have been raising hell about Woj being partially if not largely to blame for this mess.

Kevin O'Connor kept the 'allegedly' sentiment in his reporting on the Bucks "pursuing" a deal before it could legally be consummated. Woj did not.

Hopefully Bud learns from these past two years of minutes management. Giannis should be playing more minutes per game and also playing fewer regular season games. I don't see any reason he should ever play a B2B.

People won't like the first 15 minutes of the Nate and Danny pod from last night. But it is all Milwaukee and Giannis.

Their take is that Giannis made a dumb decision, essentially because Buck's management has locked the team into an aging roster with no upside.

Because young rosters win Silver Balls ???

Oh. A pissed off entitled Warriors fan. That explains it. Signing in Milwaukee was a mistake because Milwaukee isn't Golden State. Hard to argue that logic. Fans from teams who wanted Giannis think him signing with Milwaukee was a mistake. Shocking.

I love all the fans of other teams are now pivoting their attention and thirst for other players. I've seen so many Jamal Murray Raptor jersey swaps in the last 12 hours.

Just listened this morning on my way to work. My god what a trash take, pretty thin if you ask me, like what are they going to do in 3-4 years they might be in trouble...bruh you can say the same s*** about all the other NBA teams as well.. I don't even know why I listened to them. Was just trying to soak in all the Bucks content I could.

Dunc'd On is tough to listen to on a good day, and they're foolish to think Giannis is locked into Milwaukee for the full length of the deal. Also, there's not much ceiling above you when you're on the short-list for a title, but sure, the Bucks have limited flexibility if this roster isn't good enough.

Other than Giannis, don't hand out contracts that run past Middleton's current deal. If things aren't working out, reload when they all come off the books. Doesn't seem hard to manage that.
