It usually ramps up around Christmas Eve/Christmas Day these days.

Also on the awards, NBA does the same thing and I hate it just the same.

yea MLB is too old school and stuck in their ways. Reminds me of a stubborn old senile man. They need to new young bloods to come in and modernize it a little.

Seems like Trashman and the Yankees don’t want DJ back that badly and it stinks.

Boone said it’s Yankees number 1 priority to resign DJ. Sounds like he’s towing the company line, so if DJ leaves the reaction from Yankee brass is well we offered a contract and made it a priority. When in fact they will penny pinch DJ no suprise.

This is my problem with the FA process, just now their negotiating after a full month and a half. The FA process should start December 1st.

Yankees don’t seem like they’re gonna give him a 5th year. No other team seems like they’re offering DJ 5 years for a dude pushing into his mid 30s.

Seriously.

I think the uncertainty of the season starting also plays a factor here.

a legit source on a mets forum(he's broken many deals) said the mets have kept their eye on the dj situation, but that dj doesn't want to leave the yankees.

but money talks, especially if it's your last big contract.

is this the same team that gave A-ROD that 10 yr contract at the age of 31 after he opted out of his last 3 years?
just give DJ 5 years already. he's not too old yet. he is only 32.

That is what a stupid franchise does when they are desperate. I would rather go all in and spend on another top SP to put us over the top than DJ. At this point we should have faith that Cashman and the super geniuses in the scouting and analytics can find diamond in the rough hitters. They did it with Voit, Urshela, and the countless other players in the past we have brought in that can get the job done with the bat. We have however not since maybe '98 had a dominant 1-5 pitching rotation. Get me Bauer and maybe Darvish via trade. Cole-Bauer-Darvish-Sevy-Montgomery/Schmidt/Devi.

By all means let's bring DJ back but the Yankees should be focused on getting a dominant starting rotation to compete with the other major players.

One thing I agree with Michael Kay is that you don't rush in and give a ridiculous deal if no one else is.

You don't outbid yourself just cause you can.

Now, if another team goes in and offers him 5 years then that's when you make a move.

This is why there hasn't been any major signings:

Just as they did this spring, Major League owners and players are primed for conflict over the length of the upcoming season.

According to a report, owners want players to be vaccinated before spring training begins, which would mean a delay to the 2021 campaign.

That could mean Opening Day is pushed to May and a 140-game schedule is played.

The MLBPA does not agree with this timeline and is pressing to play a full 162-game slate.

That would make sense, even more of a reason not to over play your hand on DJ. This upcoming CBA is gonna be a mess. Im glad Cashman hasn't spent money like a gambler, however he has made very dumb moves like the Ellsbury signing and Stanton trade. It does seem like he loves to outdo is friend Billy Bean in dumpster diving especially with pitching he would have a 14 man pitching staff if he could

Can we conclude that this has been one of the most boring Yankee offseasons we've had in a while? At least last year many Yankee fans had something to look forward to with the signing of Cole. I was really hoping for the Yankees to make a splash by signing Trevor Bauer or another number 2 starter.

Almost every news story revolves around DJLM speculation. I really am starting to grow tired of it. If the man really wants to come back to the Bronx he needs to accept what the team is willing to offer him instead of opening up the possibility that the Yankees bid against themselves. Ain't nobody going to give a guy approaching his mid 30's a Robbie Cano-like contract, no matter how high his batting average was.

Sign Bauer, Sign Didi, move Torres to 2B, Resign DJLM to play 1st base, trade Voit, Andujar and a couple of prospects for another top of the rotation pitcher.

They will never sign Bauer given his prior relationship with Cole.

They signed A-Rod in spite of his relationship with Jeter. I don't think Cole has more pull than Jeter.

Tommy Khanle just signed with the Dodgers a 2 year deal good for him, go figure thats a franchise that is not afraid to spend money and won a championship out of it.
