I don't think he's low energy, I think he's just methodical right now. He's thinking ahead and trying to assess things.

This. Young guys, especially 19 YO rookies, are learning, not just the NBA, but also a new system. It's like learning new dance steps...the music is flowing at it's own pace and you're both trying to keep to the beat and make the moves. If you can do anything resembling the dance your first few times and keep to the beat, you're amazing.

Not at all worried about his body language or energy at this point. Being a nut on the court isn't going to make him a better player. I'd rather him be a cold blooded assassin.

The 180 twitter has made on patrick is quite interesting. I remember quite clearly people wanted AKME gone for drafting him, now everyone loves him lol.

Pat is a completely different player now than he was in college. He really put in work during the COVID shutdown and those pick up games against NBA players was really eye opening. That's what initially made me re-evaluate the pick, and his play so far has only reinforced that.

I'm trying to keep my excitement for him in check, but it's tough.

I won't surprised if he ends up the best player in the draft. His ceiling is Kawahi.

Finally getting back into basketball again. Watching highlights of P Williams and here are my impressions.

+ He's got athletic traits which are often overlooked - balance, coordination and core strength. The overlooking of these traits causes guys like Jimmy Butler and K Leonard to get overlooked in the draft process. Like both of those guys, he doesn't seem super super twitchy or explosive but he's plenty athletic with these traits.
+ He doesn't have freak Leonard length, but he's not as length challenged as Butler.
+ His shot release is a little slow and low. I think it will need to be tweaked.
+ His handle definitely looks playable at the 3.

I just noticed how large his head is. Last Bulls player who's head size stood out to me was Jimmy Butler, who I happen to think is one of the smarter players in the league. I like that lol.

I'm really liking what I've seen from him so far.
His pull up game seems to be translating well and it's what has gathered the most attention along with his help defense. What I would like to see is a more assertive attitude in trying to get to the hoop. He's very strong and has a competent handle, he might be able to generate some FT from that.
Constantly underwhelmed by the Bulls.

Williams looks pretty good so far, most of his good moments have come against the Rockets G-League team and OKC G-League team, but he's really only had one stretch that was bad (1st half against Rockets starters in game 2 where he looked really lost on both sides of the floor a couple times).

I refuse to get too excited here during PS. It has been a continual source of fools gold in terms of NBA star projections. It has been great that he's getting a ton of minutes to learn the pro game.

Honestly, I’ve got to respectfully disagree with this. The skill set he’s got now was on display in college. He was in a system, so it flashed occasionally and wasn’t shown often. But it was all there. You’d see him getting his mid range off by creating separation, you’d see his footwork defensively.

You just had to know that you weren’t going to get tons of it due to his playing time and how the ball was distributed. But it was all there to see.

Is he getting better at these things? Of course. As you’d expect a 19 year old would be, being challenged by top competition. But his skills were there and he was going to be a guy with a huge upside as soon as he entered the draft.

The hot takes on his selection were mostly due to fans not actually having knowledge of him. They didn't pay attention to the context of the role he played at FSU and went with the "the draft is weak" narrative.
Too busy claiming he would be too slow to guard 3's and he's out here able to guard 1-3 fairly solidly so far.

Now they see he's exactly the player they demanded for the pick. Young, athletic, potential to be a star and potential to be a really good 2 way player.

Dude is just smooth out there. He looks like he's barely moving around and then explodes.

This is similar to how people view Coby. They forget, he wasn't asked to play the role of play making and distributing PG at UNC.\
He has to grow into that role and being asked to play it.

There are very few ready made for success prospects in the draft now due to how young the players are and how raw they're due to playing different roles in college.

It is going to get worse from a scouting perspective when players hit the G-League and bypass college.
